Intens lukt av mørk frukt (solbær), brent tre, tjære og musk.
Tørr, medium tannin, medium fylde og litt for kort utgang.

WSET 1

Middels rød farge. Solbær, paprika,,ceder og fat på duft og smak. Elegant, flott vin med balanserte tanniner og lang fat ettersmak.

Ruby red. Exotic and complex nose with spice, deep tightly packed fruit and berries, anise and licorice. Fresh acidity. Vibrant and playful. Cruched cherries, blueberries and blackcurrant. Layered and velvety. Refined with lots of soft mellow tannins. Very long.

I first tasted this wine during Primeur in 2018 at @chateauhautbailly. Just loved it back then. This week it was released in Norway. Had to pop one and retaste it. Just a very very good wine and even better in 20 years...

Fruktig, kompleks, kraftfull med balanserte tanniner. Bløt og lang utgang. Alt for god! 

Amatør

The nose is fruity with black currants, blackberries, blueberries and ripe strawberries. There is also forest floor, cedar and graphite. It is complex, typical and elegant. 

The palate is medium-bodied, intensely fruity, soft and silky. The tannins are fine-grained and fully integrated. The finish is long, acidic and with a little licorice. 

It is lovely to drink now, and pairs perfectly with the Cote de Beauf at Matmagasinet in Stavanger.

Bjørnebær, sedertre, blyantspiss og lær. 
Utrolig strukturert med faste tanniner. 
Åpnet seg mer med noen timer i karaffel, men har godt av 5-10 år til på flaske.

WSET 2

En imponerende elegant Bordeaux. Strålende balanse, og ung, men behagelig å drikke. Alt av struktur og syre tyder på at denne har et langt liv foran seg. Herlig skogsbær, super fylde. Presis nese. Ren. 94-95p. Bare å bestille på nett!

1983 is a vintage where there are some inconsitencies. Some estates made really great wines, while other estates did not. Haut-Bailly does deliver as usual.

It is also interesting to see how far this estate has come in their later vintages. Now they are in the 96+ category, so to say every year.

Red-brown with an orange rim. Delicate nose with leather, sweet tobacco, cigar, figs, dates and minerals. Fresh and elegant with delicate dried sweet figs and dates. Licorice and automn leaves. Long and delicate finish with integrated supple tannins.

Just wow!

Ever tasted a 66 year old wine? Not often I get to either. This is the first vintage that the Sanders family made after the purchased Haut-Bailly. What a treat to taste this awesome wine!
