Carefully constructed with skilful extraction, nothing too much, mint leaf, white pepper, redcurrant, white plum, slate texture. Plenty of promise but the fruit skirts ripeness, and the aromatics show some of the leafy character of the vintage. As with the 1st wine of Talbot this year, I look forward to retasting in bottle, as there is plenty of potential for this to deepen over ageing.

Inside Bordeaux

Grilled campfire and vanilla bean aromatics that make the body of this wine ripe and welcoming without being overly sweet, this has character and Left Bank typicity, a little short but plenty to sink into.

This is a Cabernet-focused Connetable, with less Merlot in the blend that usual, and you'll find delicious spice, cloves and black pepper with blackberry, mint leaf and cocoa bean. A glow of warmth and grip on the finish, chalky tannins.

The 2021 Connetable Talbot is deep garnet-purple in color. It has a nose of sauteed herbs and wet dirt, opening to a core of redcurrants and rhubarb, with a touch of pencil lead. Light to medium-bodied, the palate is a little lean, with lightly chewy tannins and appealing freshness, finishing on an herbal note.

Drukket til upasteurisert norsk brie fra Hitra gårdsmat. Strålende kombinasjon! 

På dag to var den mer kompleks og balansert. 89 p på dag en, 91p på dag to. 

Amatør

The 2019 Connetable Talbot, a blend of 63% Merlot and 37% Cabernet Sauvignon, is deep garnet-purple in color. Scents of plum preserves, baked blackberries, and unsmoked cigars waft from the glass, giving way to hints of bay leaves and pencil lead. The medium-bodied palate is chewy and rugged, with a slight dip in the middle and a stewed tea finish.

Plump fruit through the mid palate, slightly dry tannins typical of this hot vintage, but also plenty of juicy black cherry and pomegranate fruit. This was Jean Michel Laporte's first year at Talbot, and the second for the new vineyard manager Daniel Hostein, taking over from his father in the role. No new oak for ageing for Connetable.

Kraftig mørkerød farge med duft av skogsbær, litt oliven og blomster. 

Flaske åpnet med spenning da appen sier den burde vært drukket før 2014. Men lukt og smak overgår all forventning. Glir lett på tungen med en nydelig ettersmak. En 26 år gammel vin i sin beste alder.
