The Guignard brothers makes this always reliable Cabernet-dominated red, this has pretty austere tannins, a little rustic at this early point, but with plenty of sappy savoury black fruits. 3.7ph, 44hl/h yield, 25% new oak. partly aged in oak barrels, partly in cement vats, low sulphur additions.

Inside Bordeaux

Plenty of punch on the first nose, showing confident depth of flavour, with cocoa bean, cassis and silky sweet damson fruits, with edges of smoked earth. Can drink now but this will age, and even will shut down for a few years due to the firm tannic architecture, rare at this price level. Shows better balance than many of the more expensive wines in the vintage because there is juice here - a true value wine to look out for. 38hl/h yield, Dominique Guignard owner and winemaker, with brothers Bruno and Pascal. Jean-Luc Thunevin consultant. Aged between oak barrels and cement tanks, no added sulphur during winemaking. No white wine made in this vintage.

This has density, good structure, savoury black fruits, even touches of black chocolate shavings and pencil lead. Good stuff, just a whisper underripe on the finish. 38hl/h yield, which is Graves is a high yield in 2021.

This is a wine that I often select for its quality and consistency within the Graves appellation. Powerful bitter chocolate, plenty of damson fruit, fig and blueberry fruits, dark chocolate, concentrated and balanced, one to look out for. Ambassadeur de Graves.

The brothers Guignard make this bright berry fruited wine. No need to wait much longer to begin drinking, although there are plenty of slightly earthy tannins that give structure and it will soften further over the next few years. Juicy waves of raspberry and cassis fruits are set against fresh acidities and this is an easy to recommend well-balanced Graves. Tasted twice.
