After a little shaking, notes of fresh pears, lemon pie, and lime blossoms slowly emerge from the glass, leading to touches of coriander seed and wet pebbles. The light-bodied palate is tightly wound and intense with mineral and citrus layers giving way to a long, chalky finish. Classic great, age-worthy DDC Blanc!

Got to be the most consisent of all Pessac Léognan whites, sets out its stall immediately with fresh acidities and fennel spice, giving a kick and lift, classically nuanced and structured. White pear, sage, liqourice root, savoury as all hell, and so moriesh. Working with Stéphane Derenocourt since 2018 on the whites (longer on the reds).

Inside Bordeaux

The 2022 Domaine de Chevalier Blanc is made from 70% Sauvignon Blanc and 30% Semillon. It needs considerable swirling and coaxing to unlock notes of fresh pineapple, orange blossoms, lime cordial, and juicy pears, giving way to wafts of honeysuckle and cedar. The medium-bodied palate is electric with citrus and tropical fruit layers, framed by a racy backbone and satiny texture, finishing long and mineral-laced. This is nicely done!  pH 3.32.

Great stuff, with momentum building from beginning to end, blueberry, black cherry fruits, delivered with an extra kick of liqourice and chocolate. Needs time to age, but feels like it will reward a good five to six years in bottle, and is one of the few where you don't have to excuse the vintage - just enjoy an earlier-drinker, well sculpted year. 30hl/h yield. In organic conversion. An upsocre.

Domaine de Chevalier, under the careful ownership of Oliver Bernard, provides such consistent quality in red and white, and proves it again in 2020. Has a confident, sculpted feel, majoring on waves of white pear, citrus, elderflower, touches of saffron, lovely quality and real grip. A yield of 43hl/ha, with ageing potential, and weight through the mid palate. Diam cork closure.

The 2019 Domaine de Chevalier Blanc is a blend of 70% Sauvignon Blanc and 30% Semillon. Subtle notes of cedar and juicy peaches slowly emerge from the nose, followed by Golden Delicious apples and grapefruit oil at the core. The medium-bodied palate quivers with energy and tension, leading to a steely finish.

The white Domaine de Chevalier 2018 sings of honeyed apricots, pink grapefruit, and guava, plus suggestions of lime leaves and lemon butter. Medium to full-bodied, it is zippy in the mouth, with great intensity and length. 

Duft av gule epler, hvit fersken, lys lichi, og lys ananas. Samt pene grønne florale toner. Veldig fremtredende mineralske preg. 

Smak av gule epler, hint av varm sitron og varm mineralitet. En veldig lekker balanse i vinen. Noe tretannin.

The 2015 Domaine de Chevalier Blanc gives up pronounced notes of lemonade, fresh apricots, and lime leaves with suggestions of straw and crushed stones. The medium-bodied palate is generously fruited, with an approachably soft backbone of acidity and a minerally lift on the finish.

Lys grønngul farge. Konsentrert og rik på smak. Urter, sitrus og nesle på duft, men smak av gul frukt, sitrus og mineraler. Lang ettersmak. Bør dekanterers

Lemon yellow. Green apples, lime, lemongrass, vanilla and minerals. Fresh acidity. Vibrant and playful with grapefruit, lemon, apples and flinty minerals. Balanced and very long.

Middels gulgrønn farge. Rik konsentrert vin med gul frukt, moden stil med sitrus, mineraler og honningtoner på duft og smak. Medium pluss syrlighet og lang ettersmak. Dekanter gjerne vinen

klar ren rød og blå frukt, bjørnebær, kirsebær, solbær, lær, blyantspiss litt kjøttaktig. 

Smaker primær ren frukt, både rød og blå, noe skogsbær. Lett blyantspiss, skinnjakke og mineralsk. Fremstår ung og langt yngre på smak enn på nese,  klar mer harmoni mellom nese og munn. Fortsatt godt med bitt i denne, tåler sikkert god del år, medium fyldig, medium kompleks. Medium lang ettersmak der tørrstoffer og frukt danser pent sammen.

The second year running that a Domaine de Chevalier white has featured in my wines of the year (last year it was the 2014), but it is just such a consistently brilliant choice if you are looking for a white Bordeaux that is going to deliver both with food and without. The first hints of quince and waxy lemon arriving at 12 years old as it slides towards tertiary, with the fruit now fully white pear and peach, with touches of frangipane and flaky pastry. Served out of magnum, Olivier Bernard owner.

Pale lemon yellow. White flowers, creamy, apples, pear, litchi, exotic spice and minerals. Fresh acidity. Vibrant and playful. Powerful. Apples, honey, minerals. Balanced and very long.

If you have not tried white Bordeaux, please do! Superb wines and Domaine de Chevalier is one of the better producers of the whites. The second wine, L'Esprit de Chevalier, is usually also a very good one.

The nose is rich and fruity with yellow apples, nectarines, mangoes and tangerines. There are also kvae and camphor. It is very complex. 

The palate is medium-bodied, fruity, slightly sweet and intensely acidic. It is complex and beautifully balanced. The finish is long and acidic. It is lovely to drink now, but can be aged for at least another 10 years.

This one has 85% Sauvignon Blanc and 15% Semillon blanc. This is a wine that is very prone to premox, but this had a completely light color which is a good sign. The nose has ripe yellow fruit with yellow apples, mango and honey. It is complex and appealing. The palate is velvety, fruity and moderately acidic. It is incredibly elegant and appealing. The finish is long, acidic and complex. It is mature and lovely to drink now, but can also be aged for at least another 10 years. 95 points.

Dyp gyllen farge og duft av kjeller, urter, honning og litt oksiderte toner som kan minne om sherry. Sopp og nøtter.
I munnen har den også litt oksiderte toner med nøtter, urter og grønne toner. Konsentrert og fin!

WSET 3

Dyp gyllen farge. De fleste var nok enig at denne var litt over toppen. Lukter oksidert. Sherry, urter, sopp og litt honning. I munnen gir den litt vibben til kjemi med litt nøtter i bakgrunnen. Fremstår som litt spinkel. Akkurat som den skrumper inn i munnen.
