En hybrid av ‘16 og ‘17. 2018 har alt det 2016 har, bare et par hakk opp. En kompleks nese med sitrusfrukter, epler, stikkelsbær, pasjonsfrukt, hvite blomster, te-pose, vanilje og mint. Det er fortsatt det samme grønne og litt skarpe preget som i 2016, men flere nyanser av annen frukt gir denne vinen mer helhet og fylde. Ettersmaken sitter lenge. 

Expert

Touches of passionfruit on the nose, this is a lovely wine with white pear, apricot, nectarine, with lime zest and bitter almond on the finish delivering a juicy lift. Concentrated but with clear balance, impressive for such a warm vintage, this is excellent. Harvest started August 28, through to 13 September. 25% new oak.

Inside Bordeaux

The 2018 white Latour-Martillac is a little mute to begin, opening up to reveal scents of lime cordial, pink grapefruit, and white peaches, with a waft of chalk. Medium-bodied, the palate has a zippy line of freshness and plenty of bright stone fruit flavors, finishing with a zesty lift.

Lime juice, citrus fruit, fresh peach, kiwi, liqourice and slate character, good grip and lift. Unfussy and bright.

The 2022 Latour-Martillac Blanc strides confidently out of the glass with pronounced notes of spiced apples, juicy peaches, and green mango, followed by hints of lime leaves and chalk dust. The medium-bodied palate delivers great intensity, with a refreshing line and long, zesty finish.

Enticing aromatics of red apple and white peach, with a steelier citrus coming through on the mid-palate, along with grilled white pepper and salted cracker. This is an impressive white wine, definitely one to look out for in the vintage. 46hl/h yield, 25% new oak barels for ageing. Harvest September 9 to 21.

Easy-going, subtle charm, finely boned structure, lime blossom and citrus, enjoyable, soft on the finish with plenty of charm. 44hl/ha yield, 25% new oak, with lees stirring. Diam cork closure.

Transparent, medium lemon colour.

Robust and intriguing, medium+ intense aroma. Secondary aroma characteristics. Smells of honey melon, mango, nectarine, butterscotch, oak spices, very light honey and an ever so light touch of smokey minerals. Fresh nose.  

Secondary flavour characteristics. Tastes of honey melon, nectarine, some grapefruit, almond, light smoke and white pepper.

This wine is dry with a medium acidity. Medium+ alcohol. Full body. Medium+ flavour intensity. Good balance, a bit bitter though. Good complexity with loads of exotic spices and fruit which brings a interesting flavour profile. Long finish.

This wine is ready to drink, will hold for another 6-7 years. 

Noe fatpreget, hvit Bordeaux som begynner å komme rundt, men som trenger noen år til. Sitrus, eple. Og fatkrydder og stramming og tørrring i finish. Trekk for det.

Deilig, fikk Flash til noen barndomsminner, kan være lukten av Sharp drops. 

God lengde, fedme. Intergrering av 13.5% på en topp måte. Dette til blåskjell var helt topp. Trenger litt tid for å få fatpreg til å roe seg litt. 

Amatør

Det er sitrusfrukter (lime, sitronsaft og grapefrukt), grønt eple, umoden honningmelon, stikkelsbær, treverk og litt vanilje. Vinen (flasken) er noe tilbakeholden og spinkel. En ok munnfølelse, men en litt hissig syre som ikke kler resten av smaksbildet. Et skarp og noe umodent preg. Har til gjengjeld et flott kalkete preg. Mangler fruktkonsentrasjon og balanse sammenlignet med ‘17 og ‘18. Ettersmaken sitter en stund.

Colour just starting to deepen here to a golden sunflower. On the nose also, gentle touches of straw, honeysuckle and toasted brioche, the reflection of a warm sunny vintage. Harvest from August 31 to September 14. It has its charm, and is powerful still, displaying the fatter texture of the vintage. Gourmet and enjoyable.

Light and fresh, soft yellow-gold, and plenty of lift and momentum through the palate. Enjoyable, saffron streaked citrus and quince flavours, grilled almonds touches of campfire smoke. A lovely window into the subtle complexities of white Pessac as it ages. 25% new oak, harvest September 8 to 20.

WSET 3

👃 Sitrus, honning, hvite pærer, eple,  grapefrukt, vanilje, toast og et lite saltvannspreg.

👄 Det er en god fedme på denne. Et fint grapefruktbitt som sitter hele veien sammen med sitrus, honning, tørket aprikos og toast. Medium syre. Man kjenner at dette er en vin med litt alder.

Hvis du har noen av denne i kjelleren bør den drikkes ganske raskt da den er på vei nedover. Den er ikke ødelagt, men mangler frukt som jeg finner i andre årganger, og det er et blasst og endimensjonalt preg over hele.
