Opens with softly-softly grilled cumin, cold campfire smoke, touch of lemongrass alongside the redcurrant and raspberry fruit, certainly slim and savoury, nice lift and juice on the finish. A well handled 2024 that nevertheless reflects the signature of the vintage. 27hl/h, 30% new oak, harvest September 24 to October 4.  Tasted twice.

Inside Bordeaux

The 2023 Laniote is deep garnet-purple in color. Notes of redcurrant jelly and damp soil emerge sluggishly from the glass, followed by wafts of tapenade, fruitcake, and mossy tree bark. The medium to full-bodied palate is firm and muscular, with grippy tannins and a firm finish.

The 2022 Laniote is deep garnet-purple in color. It slowly unfurls to reveal seductive notes of plum preserves, juicy blueberries, and raspberry coulis, followed by wafts of cedar chest, violets, and licorice. Full-bodied, concentrated, and with a wonderfully velvety texture, the palate is filled with opulently spicy black fruits, finishing long and perfumed.

The 2021 Laniote has a medium to deep garnet-purple color. It skips out with bright, cheery notes of fresh raspberries, Morello cherries, and rose oil, leading to suggestions of wild sage and underbrush. The medium-bodied palate has a fine-grained texture and plenty of freshness to support the delicate red berry flavors, finishing with a quiet intensity.

Well handled tannic frame, plenty of enjoyment and balance, carefully crafted to balance dark berry fruits with chocolate shavings and olive tapenade richness. A little subdued right now but will age with grace. 40% new oak. 5ha estate owned by Arnaud de la Filolie, Michel Rolland consultant. Tasted twice.
