Medium to deep garnet-purple in color. Subtle scents of black raspberries and ripe strawberries slowly emerge from the glass with hints of rose bud tea, wild sage, and blood orange. The light to medium-bodied palate is soft and approachable with delicate red berry flavors and a refreshing finish.

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2023 du Retout comes bounding out with exuberant notes of fresh blackcurrants, black raspberries, and kirsch leading to hints of bay leaf and graphite. The medium-bodied palate is bright and breezy, with chewy yet approachable tannins and a lively backbone, finishing with a skip in its step. The blend is 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot.

Powerful intense and concentrated, black cherry, pepper, rosemary, some drying tannins on the finish, but this is confident, with personality. 25% new oak, Marco Balsimelli consultant (Laboratoire Boissenot). Harvest September 19 to October 6, 3.91ph

Inside Bordeaux

The 2021 du Retout, 79% Cabernet Sauvignon and 21% Merlot, is deep garnet-purple in color. Notes of black cherries, juicy strawberries, and lavender jump from the glass, with sparks of wild sage and crushed rocks. The light-bodied palate is filled with a good amount of red berry and savory flavors with a chewy texture and earthy finish.

Vignobles Kopp, better known for their unusual white wine but it's always worth looking out for the red also. This has plenty of depth and character, with grip that delivers the plentiful berry fruit right through the mid palate, which fills out nicely. Impressive, with dried herbs and cloves on the finish.

Unfussy, earthy tannins, this is old school, classic Cru Bourgeois, with a juicy frame, liquorice, loganberry and fresh mint on the finish. Hard to argue with. Harvest September 24 to October 9, 33% new oak for ageing.
