Medium to full intensity, deep ruby red, but this is a little spiky in its acidity, the balance feels uneven between fruit and freshness, although attractive clove and white pepper spices, clear oak impact on the finish. De Schepper family, 4.45ha estate.

Inside Bordeaux

Deep inky plum colour, fragrant sandalwood spice, followed up by cocoa bean, cocoa dusting, cassis and blueberry, grilled oak, shuts down on the finish. 100% new oak, 40hl/ha yield.

Dark plum in colour, a layer of sweet blueberry puree, this is heading towards overly sweet, with smoked vanilla bean and grilled cedar. Clear construction, successful from the de Schepper family. 4.45ha estate. 100% new oak.

This has a deeper fruit character than many in the vintage, with some carefully extracted tannins and charred cedar character from the 100% new oak, with bitter aniseed and fennel on the finish accentuated by fresh acidities. 5.05ha of vines, 40hl/h yield. De Schepper family. Last year before it became Grand Cru Classé in the 2022 ranking. Heavy bottle.

Bright and vivid blueberry and raspberry fruit, plenty of light and energy to the palate, grilled coconut oak influence, tannins close in through the finish, putting the focus on gunsmoke and violet. Will benefit from another few years in bottle. 100% new oak.

Heavy on the oak, this is tarry, smoky, just about matching the black cherry and damson fruits. The 100% new oak is a little more evident after ageing than it was En Primeur, but nothing is bitter here and it is going to soften with another few years in bottle. Owned by the de Schepper family since 1996 but sprung to greater public consciousness with the brightly coloured new cellars in 2013.
