Vivid plum colour, floral aromatics, with red cherry and raspberry fruits on the opening. Very pretty, but again the acidity bursts into play on the finish and takes things down. Claude Godin owner since 1998.

Inside Bordeaux

Firm and inky in its colour and construction, with charming layers of redcurrant, bilberry, crab apple and wild strawberry fruits. A little soft on the finish, with grilled earth. 10% new oak barrels for ageing, on the lees without racking. Well located estate on the edge of St Estèphe. Eric Boissenot consultant.

Edge of fresh mushroom and earth on the opening, marked concentration of cassis and blackberry. Has plenty of character and keeps you engaged, oak a little dominant, but there is interest here. 15% new oak.

The 2021 Maurac is deep garnet-purple in color. Notes of fresh blackberries and Bing cherries leap from the glass, with hints of tar and chopped herbs in the background. The light to medium-bodied palate is chewy and uncomplicated, with a succinct savory finish.
