Medium intensity plum colour, with greengage and black cherry on the attack. More depth and concentration than the 2014 vintage, but this lacks cohesion compared to many of its 2016 siblings, with bulky tannins that need further softening. Attractive notes of earth and salted cracker on the finish. 12ha, 30% new oak, owned by Domaines Pedro.

Inside Bordeaux

An under-the-radar St Estephe, owned by Domaines Pedro, this is an enjoyable 2014 with plenty of appellation signature, ready to drink but still with heart, good plum fruit character, a little austere and tight in its tannins but with heart and life. Jucy finish. 30% new oak. 12ha, limestone and gravel, completely restored by current owner in the 1960s, had almost disappeared at the time.
