På forespørsel om et par freshe, men modne bordeauxer som Aperitivo kom Bern's utmerkede sommelier opp med Ch Lascombes 1929 og Marquis de Terme 1929. Et strålende valg skulle det vise seg. Begge flaskene fremstod som perfekte med det beste av det man forbinder med appelasjonen Margaux. Ch Lascombes mer klassisk i uttrykket, mens Marquisen markerte seg med mer rødfrukt og litt mer friskhet, som jeg setter pris på. Begge vinene er drikk nå, de blir ikke bedre, men spesielt Marquisen hadde det vært hyggelig å hatt en kasse av for å smådrikke frem mot 2029. Men det er åpenbart at 1929 er en av de store årgangene og Bern's kalde kjeller leverer alltid. Marquis de Terme 1929: 95 poeng.

Deep garnet-purple colored. Fresh red currants and blackberries give way to nuances of lavender, tar, and mint tea. Light to medium-bodied, has a sturdy structure with firm, grainy tannins and a lively finish.

Glass-staining rich plum colour, this has clear structure and concentration, very much classic Left Bank in its fruit chracter and tannic grip, good balance, enjoyable, austere right now but will fill out through the mid palate over ageing, and has fennel and black pepper spice to round things off with a punch. This year includes the Marojallia vines for the first time.

Inside Bordeaux

Damson plum, underbrush, fingerprint of the vintage shown in intense black cherry and blackberry fruits, laced with fig tart and rosemary, and edges of charcoal and slate. Good stuff, intense and knitted down, and when the tannins threaten to close in, well judged acidities come in. 50% new oak.

The 2021 Marquis de Terme has a deep garnet-purple color. It opens with broody notes of damp soil and wet slate, followed by a core of stewed red plums and fresh blackcurrants. The medium-bodied palate is chewy and rugged, with muscular black fruits and an earthy finish.

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2020 Marquis de Terme prances out with showy notes of black cherries, warm cassis, and redcurrant preserves, plus touches of garrigue, lilacs, and allspice. The medium-bodied palate is filled with fragrant black and red berry layers, supported by fine-grained tannins and seamless freshness, finishing on a peppery note.

Complex and nuanced, violets, rosebuds and rose petals. This is elegant, balanced and savoury, with cassis and bilberry fruits given texture and depth by smoky touches of liquorice and espresso. Plenty of tannins that close in on the finish and suggest a long life ahead. Good quality, classic young Margaux. Ludovic David has been director for 11 years and is delivering increasingly consistent success for owners the Sénéclauze family (the longest-running family owners of a classified estate in the Margaux appellation). 52hl/ha yield, with vinification and ageing taking place in a mix steel, cement eggs and oak. Tasted twice.

The 2018 Marquis de Terme is deep garnet purple in color. It has open-knit scents of prunes and fruit cake, with wafts of Sichuan pepper, new leather, and unsmoked cigars. Full-bodied, it is chewy and spicy in the mouth, with soft acidity and good length. 

Grilled cedar and almond notes on the aromatics, this is extremely tight, touches of capsicum and raspberry leaf. A little disappointing, with austerity of the tannic architecture making it hard to read right now. Ludovic David as director.

In 2009, Marquis de Terme had just finished up the first stage of the extensive renovations that would continue right up until the opening of the restaurant in 2018 - with the initial works focusing on updated cellars and winemaking equipment. Even without that, the quality of this 2009 is a good reminder of how well located this château is, with its powerful gravel and clay terroir. Even at 15 years old, the tannic architecture remains a little austere, showing less generosity than many of the 2009s, but it has lift, slate texture, blueberry fruits, peony aromatics that bring you into the heart of Margaux, and some bouncy acidity on the finish. Amatør

Ruby centre, tawny pink on the edges, with smoked oak on the nose, along with attractive berry fruits. This could do with a few more years for the oak to fully integrate, and for now the espresso, coffee grounds, chocolate and amaretto biscuits give a slightly bitter finish, but you'll also find plenty of black cherry and blueberry with enough density to carry it through while the oak softens further. Good with food if drinking now, will improve further over the next decade.

Lær, lakris, bjørnebær og rosiner på smak. Overraskende, men fortsatt bra syre. Avrundede tanniner. Rett og slett en god moden Bordeaux.

Første gang jeg smaker så gammel vin, 1985, men like gammel som bursdagsbarnet! Nyydelig, vidunderlig bordeaux-duft, som en høstlig tur i granskog med mosebunn og kantareller, mindre frukt på smak men lekre og varierte smaker, perfekt til harefilet, stekte nypoteter og sellerirotpuré. Spesielt sellerirotpuréen gjør noe med vinen! Oj,oj, jeg prøver meg nok på flere Blomqvist auksjoner! 93P
