The second vintage from ungrafted Cabernet Sauvignon vines from this Margaux 5th Growth. Mouthwatering dark berry fruits, the tannins have a lightness to them, more so than you might expect from a young Cabernet Sauvignon in this style of vintage, with sinew and texture. Clear mouthwatering oyster shell salinity, the whole thing has grip and keeps you engaged. Impressive in such a hot vintage to keep this freshness – striking also that this is lower alcohol than the main estate Cabernets. Grown on fine deep gravel soils (a composition which made them choose this location for the ungrafted vines trial). Aged in dolia, totally unoaked. Look out for this, it’s really worth your time.
