Not showing full clarity in colour, but this is intense, full of character, and fabulously Pauillac, with soft crayon and gunsmoke, and still brambled black fruits, finessed with fine tannins that deliver memories of structure and depth. The label was different at the time, with Carruades given top billing, followed by 'de Lafite Rothschild', a good reminder that the Carruades plot, which today is largely used for the 1st wine, was known for its exceptional quality fruit right back in the 19th century. Inside Bordeaux

Deep garnet-purple colored. Needs a little coaxing to bring out notes of crushed red and black plums and fresh raspberries, with touches of dried Provence herbs, wet slate, and lavender. The medium-bodied palate is refreshing and pure with fine-grained tannins and a well-sustained, savory finish.

The 2022 Carruades de Lafite is a blend of 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Petit Verdot. Deep garnet-purple in color, it needs a swirl or two to reveal evocative notes of blackcurrant jelly, black raspberries, and Morello cherries, plus suggestions of iris bulb, tilled soil, and crushed cloves. The medium-bodied palate is typically elegant, minerally, and refreshing,  with firm, fine-grained tannins to provide support, and a long, lifted finish.

A blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot, and 5% Cabernet Franc, 2021 Carruades de Lafite is deep garnet-purple in color. It pops from the glass with energetic notes of black raspberries, redcurrant preserves, and juicy blackberries, giving way to touches of wild sage, iron ore, and mossy tree bark. The light-bodied palate is still very tightly wound, with great tension and vivacious red and black berry flavors, finishing with an herbal lift.

This is an enjoyable Carruades, with confident weight and spice, barely out of its En Primeur character. Black cherry and cassis notes grip on through the palate, with liqourice, tobacco and espresso, and a creamy mid palate gives a welcoming kick. Eric Kohler technical director, 20% new oak.

One of the more concentrated Carruades, with the highest percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon to date, packed with powerful dark plum and blackcurrant fruits, pencil lead and slate. Knitted down, sculpted tannins, there is austerity even rigidity to the structure, but it has laid on weight and depth over ageing. This is a Carruades with a sense of occasion and will need time in bottle. 38hl/h yield, 28% new oak.

The 2018 Carruades de Lafite has a deep garnet-purple color. It offers up baked blackberries, warm cassis, and black cherries, with hints of sauteed herbs, Sichuan pepper, and rose oil. Full-bodied, rich, opulent, and spicy in the mouth, it has beautifully knit, fine-grained tannins, oodles of freshness and a long, perfumed finish.

Understated tension on the opening, plenty of Pauillac kick, cocoa bean, bitter black chocolate, cassis bud, white flowers, elegant and ready to drink at the ten year window. 10% new oak for ageing.

Finesse and savoury black fruits and mint leaf with gentle rosemary. It has a quiet concentation, together with layers of graphite, slate, and a mouthwating finish. Both quiet and yet powerful, it gives an insight into what makes Lafite so singular, and that is all you can really ask of a 2nd wine. Interesting also in how it differs from Petit Mouton, such a brilliant distillation of the difference between the two estates.

Deilig kompleks vin med en utrolig flott lengde.
Godt integrert eik .
Mye solbær,vanilje ,krydder og fat.. Skogbunn.
Utrolig god vin. Drikker nå men kan finslipes ytterligere med flere år.

Ingen tvil om at man her befinner seg i Bordeaux. På nesen får man våt skog, lær og solbær. 

Tanninene er silkemyke, men finishen noe kort.
