Light on its feet but with plenty of weight through the mid palate, this is strikingly expressive. Pale honeyed straw, still delicate and finessed but moving beyond the translucence of a young Champagne, gathering depth at almost 15 years old with hints of brioche, grilled vanilla bean, gentle smoke, elderflower, citrus and crushed biscuit. The grapes are vinified in oak barrels from the Argonne forest during few months, no malolactic fermentation. Hervé Dantan chef de cave, Emmanuel Gantet director. 3g/l dosage.

Inside Bordeaux

The 2009 Clos Lanson, made from 100% Chardonnay with 3 g/l dosage and disgorged in May 2022, has a gorgeous perfume of lime blossoms, yuzu, and lemongrass, leading to suggestions of lemon tart, allspice, and crushed stones. The palate is elegantly styled, with medium-sized bubbles and a slight dip in the mid-palate, featuring subtle flavors and a lifted finish.

Just love the nuanced character of this Champagne, from the toasted brioche aromatics, to the white pear, saffran, iris flowers, spiralling through to sea shell and salted cracker. Gentle but persistent mousse that draws the flavours out and makes you go back for more.
