Shows density and balance, with leafy but fragrant aromatics that unfurl slowly, and bright acidity that is not overpowering to the blueberry and blackcurrant fruits. The skill of the Lafite team is clear here, and this is a classically balanced Duhart that will age well. Harvest September 25 to October 4, 32hl/h yield, above the Pauillac average. Moulin de Duhart is not being sold En Primeur.

Intense, stately, with ripe and spicy dark brambled fruit flavours, blackberry and cassis, balanced by grippy tannins, crushed rocks, slate and cigar, which add texture and moderation. The serious face of Duhart does well in the vintage, keeping an upright tannic backbone. New cellar at Duhart since 2020. Harvest August 31 to September 28, 3.8ph. Olivier Bonnau technical director. Duhart Milon vineyard is looking at lowering density of planting to guard against future hot vintages of this type.

Finessed, precision-cut tannins, this is a successful Duhart in the old school style, showing that here they are able to deliver a sombre, subdued but high-quality take on tannic Cabernet sauvignon. Crushed mint leaf, crayon, raspberry leaf, slate, fresh earth. Slightly higher Cabernet in the blend than usual, this perfectly encapsulates the harmony and drinkablity of 2021 in the right hands, and is one of the few that you can see really developing like a 2001, classic Duhart. 1st year organic conversion, 30hl/h yields, 50% new oak, Eric Kohler technical director, Olivier Bonneau deputy technical director (previously at Château d'Arsac).

A blend of 72% Cabernet Sauvignon and 28% Merlot, the 2020 Duhart-Milon is deep garnet-purple in color. It needs a little shaking to wake up notes of juicy blackberries, black raspberries, and redcurrant preserves, followed by suggestions of damp soil and graphite. The light to medium-bodied palate is soft and approachable, with lovely red and black fruit layers and a lively finish. This comes from the first vinification in the new cellar at Duhart.

Smak av skogsbær, bjørnebær, lær og tobakk. Veldig tight per nå. Konsentrert og strukturert, fin balanse.

Expert

On slightly cooler soils that its sibling Lafite Rothschild and often a little austere in its early years, in 2018 you will find a more generous Duhard Milon, with velvety tannins and plenty of mid palate generosity, helped by blackberry and damson fruits, and touches of chocolate shavings and spicy cigar box, still with the slate and pencil lead character so typical of the property. Great quality, will age well. 3.84ph, 37.5hl/h yield.

God nese av grønn paprika. Tanninrik men rund og lett i munnen. Veldig veldig god vin!

Amateur

Medium to deep garnet-brick in color, the 2014 Duhart-Milon swans out with fragrant scents of Indian spices, menthol, and lavender oil over a core of warm cassis and plum preserves plus a touch of cigar box. The medium-bodied palate is bright and taut for its age, with fine-grained tannins and impressive tension to support, finishing minerally.

The 2013 Duhart-Milon is medium garnet colored with a touch of brick. Floral hints of roses and lavender give way to a core of prunes and forest floor with a touch of dried sage. Light to medium-bodied, the palate is soft and well-balanced with a soft-spoken finish. This is drinking at its peak right now.

Showing well at 10 years old. Liquorice root, cassis, bilberry, leather, cigar box, tar, cloves and turmeric spices. Fairly serious in character, as is often the case with Duhart, this feels like old school Pauillac and has its charm as a result.

This starts out reserved, and then quietly builds in strength, showing velvety tannins, creamy blackberry and blackcurrant hedgerow, full of Pauillac character and tannins but far less forbidding that it was as a young wine. Love how much this has grown into itself over ageing.

You can't go far wrong with this superb 2009. Has a kick in its step compared to many vintages of Duhart around this time, which tend to be a little more austere and buttoned up. This is infused by the generosity of the vintage, without going too far from its signature Pauillac reticence, delivering graphite, cedar, sandalwood, cassis, brambled blackberries and tons of cigar box and sage spice.
