Dark plum colour, intense with a kick of smoky oak. A wine that showcases the concentration and spice to an Australian Shiraz even without any new oak, puts the focus on aromatics, fragrant grilled cumin, rose petal, black olives, baked spice and grilled herbs. Just awesome - but don't approach yet, this honestly could do with six or seven years to even rev up to the starting blocks. Tasted during the September Releases, and also at an incredible vertical held in Paris back in January that more than showed how St Henri can hold its own and improve for decades. Inside Bordeaux

The 2020 Penfolds St. Henri Shiraz has a deep garnet-purple color.  It opens with subdued, earthy notes of black truffles, crushed rocks, and mossy tree bark, leading to a core of preserved plums, dried mulberries, and unsmoked cigars, with a waft of Sichuan pepper. The full-bodied palate is firm with chewy tannins and a refreshing line supporting the savory, muscular fruit, finishing with an herbal lift.

En duft som minner meg mye om cote rotie. Overraskende kjølig og balansert frukt. Metallisk på nesen. Sorte plommer, bjørnebær, lakris, sorte kirsebær, vanilje, anis og pepper.

Smak av Rhone basically. Røde og sorte kirsebær, lakris, og vanilje. Tett og konsentrert. Nydelig. 

Expert

Dyp mørk lilla. Mørke bær, sjokolade, kaffe, eukalyptus. Intens både på lukt og smak. På smak er det lag på lag med bjørnebær, mørke plummer, sjokolade, kaffe, pepper. Meduim + syre og høye tanniner som ennå ikke er integrerte . Utrolig lang ettersmak. Utvikler seg hele veien i glasset. Behold i kjeller en stund til, men absolutt verd å vente på.

Kombinert med lammecarré, en tilnærmet perfekt kombinasjon. Balansert og kompleks🐑 Mørke frukter, jordlig, røyk og lakris.

Amatør

Nyanserte og komplekse aromaer av Friske solbær, skogsbær og mokka på nesen etterfulgt av nellik, urter, anis og hint av vanilje og nøtter. Veldig strukturert og litt grov med gripende modne tanniner. Veldig høy ekstraksjon med en intens og konsentrert smak av mørke bær, kaffe og mørk sjokolade. Veldig lang og vedvarende ettersmak

Opened during an incredible Rewards of Patience tasting in Paris, This is exceptionally enjoyable, hovers above the palate, with the finesse of an older vintage imprinting intself onto its younger counterpart, I can see where this is going and I want to go there too. Tobacco, raspberry, fragrant, more of a feeling than a taste!!! Stunning; gold for me, cool vintage??? Gold
