Plump dark fruits with structure and grip, elongates through the palate, although lacks some of the complexity and magic of the best 2016s. One to drink now, enjoying the pulped brambled fruits and the depth of flavour, a great easy drinking, ready to go wine, proof of the level of quality in this appellation in the 2016 vintage. The tannins are a little drying on the finish but will soften further. 57hl/h yield, showing the abundance of the vintage, 33% new oak. Harvest October 4 to 17.

Inside Bordeaux

Domaines Audoy, same owners as Cos Labory, oversee this rustic but unfussy estate that is set on good quality terroir near to the main 1855 property. Medium ruby in colour, it errs on slightly underripe fruit in 2014, with redcurrant and cassis offset by white pepper spice, slate, gooseberry and raspberry leaf. 42hl/h yield, 33% new oak.
