A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot, the 2023 Bellegrave is deep garnet-purple in color. It leaps with vibrant notes of kirsch and juicy strawberries, leading to suggestions of garrigue, wet slate, and underbrush. The medium-bodied palate is chewy and lively, with delicate, savory flavors and a lifted finish.

The 2022 Bellegrave from Pomerol is deep garnet-purple in color. It wafts from the glass with notes of sauteed herbs, fruitcake, and stewed tea, plus hints of sultanas and dried figs. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is chewy and a little flat, with dried berry flavors and a stewed tea finish.

In the René sector of Pomerol, with clay-sandy-gravel soils, this is a light but expressive and supple example of Pomerol, a little soft through the mid palate but with gentle raspberry and red cherry fruits.

Inside Bordeaux

The 2020 Bellegrave is deep garnet-purple in color. Fragrant notes of blueberry preserves, violets, and licorice prance from the glass, followed by hints of wild sage and mocha. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers plenty of uncomplicated black fruits with a lively line and well-managed, approachable tannins, finishing savory.

Russet ruby colour with tertiary undergrowth and leather aromatics, this is charming, blueberry and raspberry fruits, unfussy, enjoyable, toasted oak, cold ash. More evolved than many but juicy, tasty and easy to recommend.

Like many of the 2005 Pomerols at the 17 year stage, the colour is still deep ruby, and the aromatics are open, welcoming and ready to drive into. The character of the wine is dominated by tertiary flavours of earth, undergrowth, blackberry, rust, with touches of brett. Old school, charming, mouthwatering on the finish. Jean-Marie Bouldy owner, already farming organically at this stage, although not certified until 2009.
