The 2019 Canon la Gaffeliere, a blend of 49% Merlot, 39% Cabernet Franc,  and 12% Cabernet Sauvignon, is deep garnet-purple in color. Wild blueberries, kirsch, and black raspberry notes waft from the glass with hints of rose oil and mossy tree bark. The full-bodied palate is elegantly styled, refreshing, and soft, with bright red berry layers and a lifted finish.

Deep garnet-purple colored. Prances out of the glass with showy notes of red cherry pie, red currant jelly, and black raspberries, opening out to suggestions of rose oil, cardamom, and star anise with a touch of forest floor. The light to medium-bodied palate delivers grainy tannins and just enough freshness to support the multi-layered fruit, finishing on a lingering fragrant earth note.

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2023 Canon la Gaffeliere pops from the glass with exuberant notes of fresh black and red currants, kirsch, and wild blueberries followed by hints of pencil shavings, violets, and mossy tree bark. The elegantly styled, medium-bodied palate is tightly wound and refreshing, with firm fine-grained tannins and bright crunchy red and black berry flavors, finishing long and minerally.  The blend is 45% Cabernet Franc, 35% Merlot, and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon.

The 2022 Canon la Gaffeliere is blended of 50% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Franc, and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. Yields were 47 hl/ha and it is aging in 40% new oak. Deep garnet-purple in color, it opens with a fantastically flamboyant nose of kirsch, wild blueberries, and red currant preserves, followed by hints of lavender oil, fallen leaves, and licorice. The medium to full-bodied palate is coated with taut, muscular black fruits with a firm frame of ripe, fine-grained tannins and plenty of freshness, finishing long with a spicy lift.

Bdx-messe 2021. Samlenotat St. Emilion. Generelt var preg av grillet paprika ganske tydelig på flere av de utstilte '21. Kanskje især Tour Saint Christophe og La Gaffeliere. På Canon la Gaffeliere og la Mondotte var dette derimot en velintegrert brikke i et særdeles flott og lagdelt smaksbilde. Sistnevnte kanskje min favoritt på messen, men akk prisen. Fourtet mye trøkk.

Smakt på Bordeauxmessen. Mørke sødmefulle bær. Plommer og bjørnebær med hint av sopp og treverk. Frukten fremstår tilgjengelig til å være så ung, men blir helt klart bedre med tid. Overvekt av Merlot bidrar til en mer fruktig og tilgjengelig vin, som roer tanninene noe. God kropp og lengde.

Silkemyk Bordeaux med 55% Merlot. 2016 årgangen er åpen allerede i 2022, men kan fint ligge flere år i kjelleren. Perfekt balanse. Nydelig vin!!

Amatør

Smakt på Bordeauxmessen. Dyp mørk frukt, bjørnebær, plommer og et lite floralt preg. Hint av sopp, skogbunn og lær. God struktur og tydlige tanniner som rammer inn vinen. Den er fremdeles for ung, men potensialet begynner å komme frem. 
Drikk 2025-2040

The 2014 Canon la Gaffeliere is medium to deep garnet-brick in color. Scents of fragrant soil and tobacco leaf give way to notions of dried cherries and mulberries with suggestions of dried flowers and fallen leaves. The medium-bodied palate is classically styled and nicely mature, with firm grainy tannins and well-knit freshness, finishing with a spicy kick.

The 2013 Canon La Gaffeliere has a medium garnet-brick color. It is a little grumpy to start, offering subdued notes of wet slate and damp soil, with a core of dried cherries, tobacco leaf, and raisin cake. The medium-bodied palate is soft and delicate, with a slight dip in the mid-palate and an earthy finish.

The 2012 Canon la Gaffeliere is medium to deep garnet colored. It is showing its age, with notes of tobacco, fruitcake, and iodine over a core of stewed cherries and prunes. Light to medium-bodied, the palate is a little lean and fading slightly, finishing abruptly. Drink up!

Mørke modne bær. Bjørnebær, plommer, sigar og mørk sjokolade. En god fylde med moden frukt og integrerte tanniner. Begynner å bli tilgjengelig og viser flere lag, men vil utvikle seg pent videre de neste 10-15 årene 

Beautiful autumnal leaf and old book aromatics, super charming with ripe brambled and pureed red and black fruits, touches of soy, cinnamon, smoked earth and sea spray that speaks of the limestone impact. Great quality, a little more evolved than expected.
