Deep garnet-purple colored. Starts out broody with tar and sautéed herbs notes leading to a core of baked strawberries and rhubarb. The light to medium-bodied palate is tangy and lightly chewy with bright berry flavors and a savory finish.

Medium to medium plus intensity ruby, brambled fruit on the nose, great appellation typicity even on the aromatics, with a balanced welcome and a hint of grilled oak. Cloves, gunsmoke, campfire, sage, slate tannins, the kind of drag through the palate that keeps you engaged, a true En Primeur sample where the construction is clear, and gives the reassurance of a wine with more to say and plenty of ageing ahead of it. Good.

Inside Bordeaux

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2022 Carbonnieux Rouge leaps with open-knit black and red cherry scents, followed by hints of forest floor, wild sage, and pencil lead. The medium to full-bodied palate is generously fruity, with plush tannins and a red berry lift on the finish.

They have done a great job of softening the tannins over ageing without overdoing the oak impact. Precise and balanced, savoury and lean, blueberry, cassis and lemongrass, with slate grip. 40hl/h yield oveall. Christophe Ollivier consultant. A rare for the vintage two point upscore. Tasted twice.

Youthful aromas showing purity and ripeness, both sweeter red berry, plum and darker cassis notes with tobacco leaf, mild oak and spiciness. Nicely tuned palate, youthful and ripe tannin adding freshness and structure, attractive dark fruit flavours, rounded texture already approachable with well-concealed oak and a long fresh finish. Well-done.

Sommelier

The 2019 Carbonnieux is deep garnet-purple in color. Notes of redcurrant jelly, juicy plums, and cedar chest jump from the glass, followed by a waft of bay leaves. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is chewy and slightly hollow, with an herbal lift on the finish.

The 2018 Carbonnieux has a deep garnet purple color. It offers up scents of baked plums, warm blackberries, and spice cake, with hints of chocolate mint and cedar. It is medium to full-bodied with a soft texture and plenty of bright fruit in the mouth, finishing with a minty lift.

Duft av petroleum, lime, litt stikkelsbær og florale toner. Smak av lime, solbær, stikkelsbær, fat, sjø og litt skalldyr. Deilig syrlig, god fylde og en lengde som er imponerende ! Dette  er en meget god og vellaget hvitvin med en kompleksitet som er sjelden for denne prisklassen. 2012 årgangen er litt umoden og "grønn" og vil bli bedre med noe år. Den holder nok i minst 20 år, og begynner å vise en mer rund og moden karakter etter 6 år eller noe mer.

Great quality, some austere tannins on the opening beats, and a wave of cocoa bean, cassis, black tea, leather, cloves and smoked thyme.

Enjoyable balance, fresh, pomegranate, black tea and red cherry flavours, with edges of blackcurrant and creamy cappuccino, good stuff. Easy, unfussy, good quality. 35% new oak for ageing.
