Mørk rødlilla farge. Dufter av mørke bær, hint av solbær, kjølig spice, cedertre, cassis og skogsbunn, hint av sopparoma. Begahelig syre og avslipte tanniner. Middels pluss lengde. God value BDX.

Middels rød farge. Solbær, rødfrukt og urter på duft og smak. Utviklet anslag med blyantspiss og moden paprika Fyldig og rik fruktighet i ettersmaken. Balanserte tanniner og god syrlighet.

Deep ruby plum, medium intensity, attractive vivid purple around the rim, with cloves and spiced rosemary on the opening, soft berry fruits, plenty of promise but the tannins close things down pretty quickly through the mid palate.

Inside Bordeaux

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2023 Lanessan slowly emerges from the glass with soft-spoken notes of fresh plums and mulberries followed by hints of Provence herbs, lavender, and tobacco leaf. The medium-bodied palate is delicately played and verges on lean, offering lightly chewy tannins and refreshing acidity, finishing on a mineral note.

Firm slightly drying tannins, grilled smoked leather, fleshy blackberry and raspberry fruit. The tannins close things in on the close of play, narrowing through the palate, emphasising bitter orange and saffron, with slate and liquorice. Struggles to gain balance, but it gets there, and is a well constructed wine with Left Bank signature. 33% new oak barrels for ageing.

Attractive aromatics, this is sappy, a touch of smoke, well handled, high spice, bright and breezy, good quality. Owned by the Bouteiller family, Eric Boissenot consultant, harvest September 22 to October 12.

The 2020 Lanessan is deep garnet-purple in color. It springs from the glass with notions of redcurrants, kirsch, and baked plums, plus hints of Provence herbs and Ceylon tea. Light to medium-bodied, the palate is refreshing and light on its feet with delicate flavors and an herbal lift on the finish.

The 2019 Lanessan has a medium to deep garnet-purple color. It starts off quite closed, soon unfurling to offer glimpses at baked plums, boysenberry preserves, and kirsch, followed by hints of pencil lead and sauteed herbs. The medium-bodied palate has a firm, rugged texture and a good amount of uncomplicated black fruits, finishing savory.

The 2018 Lanessan is deep garnet purple in color. It delivers notes of juicy black plums and crème de cassis, with touches of menthol, cumin seed, and dried roses. Medium-bodied, the palate has impressive intensity and firm, ripe tannins, leading to a refreshingly savory finish. Nice!

Nese: lær, jordaktig med blomstrete hint, noe sedertre, kirsebær og vanilje, lakris med noe pepper og honning 

Lukter bedre enn den smaker 

Smak: lær og eik med noe røyk og pepper, kirsebær med jordnoter, noe honning i finish

Solbær, røde plommer, krydder, blyantspiss og et hint av sedertre på duft.

Smak av røde bjørnebær, plommer, og integrerte kryddertoner. Pen syre og strukturerte tanniner. 

Konsentrert duft av mørke bær. Leskende fruktighet preget av mørke bær, fyldig, men litt kjølig frukt, avslepne tanniner og behagelig friskhet i avslutningen. God lengde og kompleksitet. God balanse.

Lukt: vanilje, bringebær(lyse bær)

Smak: vanilje, vinen sitter lenge, men kan være litt mer spennende. 

Tobakk, tjære, lær. Fortsatt fin frukt. Utviklet og avslepne tanniner. Balansert. Lang.

A non-classified wine from an almost 60 year old often-forgotten vintage shouldn't hold out much hope for an enjoyable tasting experience, but this is drinking beautifully right now. Melted tannins, finessed wild strawberry and blackberry fruits with flecks of mandarin, tobacco and saffron, this is delicate, with a cushion of air, still delivering. Not ex-château, but exceptional storage conditions may have helped, as might its location on the borders of St Julien, but I would say definitely worth tracking down, as there are numerous wines that are still going strong from 1967. Lanessan in 1967 was owned by the Bouteiller family (as was Pichon Baron at the time), as it was until 2022, when bought by Treasury Wine Estates.
