Cocoa bean and coffee on the nose, firm blue plum and cassis, confidently made, teasing extraction that almost goes too long but pulls back and delivers mouth watering fruits. Acidity high, in the character of the vintage, but this is one to look out for, particularly after another year of softening ageing. 50% new oak. Harvest 17 to 28 September

Inside Bordeaux

Plummy fruit character on the nose, and velvety depths to the colour, plenty of black fruits to sink into, and a textured Pomerol embrace. Acidities are a little fresh, but there is a sense of energy and a kick on the finish. Harvest September 7 to 19.

Deep garnet-purple in color 2022 Latour a Pomerol sashays out with graceful notes of raspberry coulis, chocolate covered cherries, and stewed plums, leading to wafts of forest floor, iron ore, and wild sage. The medium to full-bodied palate is elegantly played with graceful, ripe, rounded tannins and seamless freshness supporting the nuanced red and black fruits, finishing on a mineral note. This is made from 100% Merlot.

The 2021 Latour a Pomerol is 100% Merlot and has a medium to deep garnet-purple color. It jumps from the glass with ready-to-go notes of juicy blackberries, Morello cherries, and spice cake, followed by suggestions of Darjeeling tea and black olives. The medium-bodied palate is elegantly styled, with bags of freshness and soft, approachable tannins, finishing with a skip in its step.

The 2020 Latour a Pomerol is 100% Merlot and has a deep garnet-purple color. Notions of cedar, mulberries, and fresh black plum waft from the glass, followed by hints of iron ore, wild sage, and Ceylon tea. The full-bodied palate is laden with ripe, rich black fruit and minerally accents, supported by grainy tannins and bright freshness, finishing on a lingering ferrous note.

Silky, seductive tannins, cocoa bean, chocolate shavings, precise and focused, dark cassis and bilberry fruits, well judged tannins that know exactly what they are here to do. No rush to drink this, an exceptional vintage at the estate, one to savour over the next few decades. Harvest September 18 to 24

The 2018 Latour a Pomerol is 100% Merlot. Deep garnet-purple in color, it opens with fragrant notes of sandalwood, lilacs, cedar chest, and vanilla pod, giving way to a fruitcake and plum preserves core. The full-bodied palate has a sturdy structure of firm, grainy tannins and just enough freshness to support the dense, muscular black fruits, finishing long and earthy.

Fleshy black fruits, smoked cumin, turmeric and white pepper spice, even an exotic dash of fragrant incense. There is flesh here, full-bodied through the mid palate and still with grip and Pomerol signature, just a flash of heat showing the fingerprint of vintage. In its drinking window at the ten year point.
