The 2020 Filhot has a pale lemon-straw color. It springs from the glass with vivacious notions of baked apples, peach preserves, and lime leaves, with hints of parrafin wax, wild fungi, and powdered ginger. The palate is rich and seductive, with a lively backbone and a nicely balanced, earthy finish.

The 2024 Filhot is pale lemon-straw in color. It is a little shy to begin, unfurling to reveal notes of lemon balm, green mangos, and fresh pears with a touch of almonds. The palate is rich and unctuous with just enough freshness and a decadent finish.

There is freshness and grip here, along with silky texture and a ton of smoked apricot, nectatrine and saffron. 33% new oak barrels. Well judged pretty modern style, enjoyable. Vaucelles family, 62ha.

Inside Bordeaux

Owned by Gabriel de Vaucelles, a cousin of the Lur Saluces, this is an estate that has been making better and better wines over recent years. In the challengingly dry vinage of 2022, there is a clear emphasis on smoked caramel, dried apricots, fresh figs and a silky texture that is enticing, if overly sweet.

Lukt av søtlig sitron, pære, tørket ananas, fersk honning og earl grey te. 

På smak er den litt kremet med en rund munnfølelse. Det er tørket aprikos, ananas, krydder og vanilje. Godt integrert syre som matcher sødmen godt. Den er dog litt spinkel og for enkel for høyere poengsum. Ettersmaken sitter en stund. 

Expert

Medium straw-gold in color, the 2012 Filhot sings of lemon marmalade, preserved kumquat, and candied ginger with touches of lime leaves and chalk dust. The palate delivers plenty of sweetness and tension, with lovely purity and a zingy finish.
