Inside Bordeaux

The 2020 Lassegue is a blend of 60% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep garnet-purple colored, it comes skipping out with notes of blueberry pie, baked plums, and spice cake, plus hints of fragrant soil and potpourri. Medium to full-bodied, the palate delivers chewy tannins and a refreshing line to support the black fruit layers, finishing long and spicy.

Deep plum colour, confident and dominant Cabernet aromatics, violets, bright vivid fleshy dark fruits, crushed raspberries, plum, greengage and even touches of cherry pit, squid ink, liqourice root, perhaps a little more bright and crunchy fruit than in richer years, but a success. 60% new oak for ageing, 15 different forests origin for the barrels. Pierre Seillan winemaker, harvest September 24 to October 5., 3.60 pH, 45hl/h yield (after sorting), with just 0.3% chaptilisation. A great classic St Emilion.

Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2023 Lassegue rolls out with eager-to-please scents of kirsch, fresh blackberries, and raspberry coulis leading to hints of spice cake and Sichuan pepper. The medium-bodied palate has a lightly chewy texture with appealing freshness, finishing on a mineral note. The blend is 50% Cabernet Franc, 43% Merlot, and 7% Cabernet Sauvignon, with pH 3.70.

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2022 Lassegue opens with subtle notes of juicy red and black plums and mulberries before revealing a perfume of red roses, star anise, and dusty soil with a waft of powdered cinnamon. The medium to full-bodied palate has beautiful freshness and grace, with plush tannins and a spicy lift on the finish.

A blend of 55% Merlot, 37% Cabernet Franc, and 8% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2021 Lassegue is deep garnet-purple in color. The nose opens with notions of stewed plums, dried cherries, and mint tea, with underlying wafts of iodine and sweaty leather. The medium-bodied palate delivers just enough soft-spoken fruit with chewy tannins and a touch of rusticity to the finish.
