The 2020 Hirsch Vineyards West Ridge Pinot Noir has a pale ruby-purple color. It slips sensuously out of the glass with a gorgeous perfume of peonies, dried lavender, and fresh raspberries, giving way to suggestions of underbrush and iron ore. The light to medium-bodied palate delivers intense red berry and mineral-inspired flavors, with exquisitely ripe, fine-grained tannins and seamless freshness, finishing very long and fragrant. Beautiful! This wine comes from 3 blocks on the West Ridge and according to the owner, Jasmine Hirsch, the vines here have leaf roll virus, which delivers tiny berries and very small yields.
