Good typicity, skillful construction, more muscular than the other Brunellos in the lineup perhaps, imbued with the house style of Luce, but this is a lovely wine, food friendly with a ton of depth. Can drink now but can age. Alessandro Marini director and winemaker.

This is the best of the three Luces in the March Releases lineup, delivering enticing fragrance and beautifully juicy quality to the tannins, with flexibility and grip. A ton of lift and the dry underbrush, fennel and leather of Brunello combined with savoury sour cherry fruits and sweeter brambled blackberry and pomegrante. A great example of the beauty of Brunello Sangiovese in the excellent 2019 vintage. 2 years bottle, 2 years in Slovenian oak barrels.

A hotter, dryer vintage than 2019 and you feel it in the fig and raspberry puree fruits, flecked with orange peel, sage, touches of rose petal, tobacco and a spreading warmth through the finish. Enjoyable, deft winemaking, plenty of character, feels ready to begin drinking, with good life ahead, and real persistency on the palate. Nicolo d'Afflitto director, Alessandro Marini winemaker.

An extremely classic Brunello with its sour cherry, rosemary, sage and underbrush character on the attack, hugely savoury, mouthwatering and moreish, with delicacy and juice. As it opens, leather, tobacco, olive, rose petal and a sweeter raspberry puree appear. Love it. Aged in Slovenian oak barrels. First released in March 2021, second tasting here.
