Enticing plum and raspberry fruits, touches of crab apple acidities, this has good length, stretches out thrugh the palate, bitter almond and chocolate shavings on the finish, this is enjoyable. A 200ha estate so lots of opportunity to select the best plots within more complicated vintages, and there is 40% less in the 1st wine than usual, with a lower amount of Merlot, after 35hl/h yield due to frost.

Inside Bordeaux

The 2021 Reserve du Chateau from Pey La Tour has a medium to deep garnet-purple color. It rolls out with notes of cedar and spice box, before opening out to a core of juicy cherries and fresh plums. The medium-bodied palate is bright and breezy, with soft tannins and a spicy lift on the finish.

It can not have been easy to produce this easy-drinking, inexpensive style of Bordeaux in 2024, but they have done a great job here, giving consistency and easy approachability, even a touch of slate and crayon texture. 

Leafy raspberry notes alongside brambled and well controlled dark fruits, hedgerow flavours with plenty of fresh acidities. Has personality and salinity on the finish.

Sweet black fruits, with a flash of heat running through the palate and an intense edge to the bitter chocolate. A concentrated vintage for this wine, certainly highlights the character of the year, delivering value from a reliable name, care of Vignobles Dourthe.

A thoroughly enjoyably, approachable Bordeaux with unfussy dark fruits, well defined raspberry bud and slate edging, with richer chocolate cake notes through the mid palate. Fresh lift on the finish. Terra Vitis,

Always a quality wine that offers great value, and does well in a vintage like 2019. Will easily last another five years, as there is good structure here, but also it is ready to drink now, focusing on blackberry and red cherry fruits, well balanced although a little austere.
