Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2023 Jean & Gabriel skips out with cheery notes of kirsch and black raspberries plus wafts of pencil shavings and bay leaves. The medium-bodied palate has a good concentration of black and red fruit, with chewy tannins and a savory finish. The blend is 50% Cabernet Franc and 50% Merlot.

A high proportion of Cabernet Franc, enjoyably chalky texture, a little dip through the mid palate, but unfussy and enjoyable.

Inside Bordeaux

Firm fresh fruits, a little grazing on the edge of ripeness, with clear chalk and sappy red currant fruit. 33% new oak, harvest October 2 to 5.

Slate, bilberry, black cherry, this starts with plenty of interest but the heat builds through the palate and it ends with a bitter twist of aniseed.

A blend of 50% Merlot and 50% Cabernet Franc, the 2021 cuvee Jean & Gabriel from Bel-Air has a medium to deep garnet-purple color. It pops from the glass with notes of mulberries and wild strawberries, plus touches of spearmint and cinnamon toast. Medium-bodied, the palate is chewy and lively, with an herbal lift on the finish.

A blend of 50% Cabernet Franc and 50% Merlot, the 2020 Jean & Gabriel is medium to deep garnet-purple in color. It comes bounding out with exuberant scents of black cherries, black raspberries, and mulberries, plus wafts of dried roses and charcoal. The medium-bodied palate is tightly wound with bright black and red berry layers and a firm, grainy texture, finishing with a skip in its step.
