Powerful tannins, intense colour, with well textured damson and black cherry fruit, alongside the cocoa bean, espresso and spice of the vintage, tempered by savoury notes of cherry pit and mint. This is well executed, with carefully extracted muscular tannins. 40% new oak, 40% one year barrels, 2% amphora and 18% cement vats. Gérard Jicquel owner since 2019, the estate now has a new winery. An excellent wine, one to look out for.

Inside Bordeaux

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2022 Fourcas Dupre skips out with cheery notions of black raspberries, kirsch, and cassis, followed by suggestions of garrigue and mossy tree bark. The medium-bodied palate is tightly knit, with nice bright black and red fruit layers and a firm, grainy texture, finishing with a refreshing lift.

Dark berry fruits in evidence, good balance and spice, and this has clever construction, with the wine nicely drawn out through palate. Tannic grip closes things down on the finish, but this has ageing potential. 

The 2023 Fourcas Dupre is deep garnet-purple in color. It opens with notes of dried thyme, stewed strawberries, and fruitcake, plus hints of damp soil and balsamic. The medium-bodied palate is tart and chewy, with rustic notes and a hard finish.

A blend of 59% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, and 1% Petit Verdot, the 2021 Fourcas Dupre is deep garnet-purple in color. A little closed and broody to start, it unfurls to offers glimpses at scents of fresh blackberries and raspberries leading to hints of violets, bay leaves, and scorched earth. The light to medium-bodied palate is elegant and fresh, with lightly chewy tannins and a mineral-laced finish.

Inky bright purple core and hue. Pure nose is showing dark plum, cassis, liquorice and mild oak. Good grip and ripeness, savoury dark fruit flavours with sage, liquorice and tobacco, well-tuned oak, a fresh backbone, rounded tannin and a generous finish.

Sommelier

Dark ruby red colour with a purple hue. Layered nose blending some toasted and spicy oak elements with ripe wild berries, cassis and fine tobacco. Nice palate combining dense young fruit, vivid and ripe tannin, well-integrated oak notes adding a slight butterscotch creaminess, and a dense and long finish. Fine potential.
