The 2023 Lafleur-Gazin, 100% Merlot, is deep garnet-purple in color. It offers up a very pretty perfume of roses, kirsch, and raspberry pie followed by hints of black tea and bay leaves. The medium-bodied palate is plush and juicy, with a lively line and red berry-laced finish.

Medium plus intensity, inky plum colour, well judged density through the palate and although acidities are pretty high, they come with sappy vibrancy to the tannins, and a dash of mint leaf and blackcurrant pastille. Enjoyable. Harvest September 7 to 19.

Inside Bordeaux

Well handled, this has clear toasted oak, grilled cedar, cocoa bean, aromatics that lend the gourmet touches that are not always easy to find in 2024. Things get a little more austere on the close of play, with fresh acidities but juicy and enjoyable, soft finish. 50% new oak. Harvest 17 to 28 September.

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2022 Lafleur-Gazin is a tad closed and grumpy to begin, needing some coaxing to bring out notes of baked black plums, boysenberries, and tar, followed by hints of licorice and allspice. The medium to full-bodied palate is laden with black fruit preserves and savory accents, framed by ripe, rounded tannins, finishing earthy. This is made from 100% Merlot.

Tar, chocolate and black cherry. Slightly leaner than many vintages but recognisable Pomerol generosity as it opens, and one to look out for. No chaptilisation.

Lafleur-Gazin 2020 is 100% Merlot and has a deep garnet-purple color. It tumbles out with exuberant notes of stewed black and red cherries, forest floor, and spice cake, plus suggestions of dried lavender and clove oil. Full-bodied, the palate is chock-full of ripe, rich black fruits, supported by soft tannins and just enough freshness, finishing long and spicy.

Amatør

The 2018 Lafleur-Gazin is 100% Merlot. Deep garnet-purple in color, it skips out with bright, breezy scents of redcurrant jelly, blackberry preserves, and fresh boysenberries, plus wafts of lavender, tobacco leaf, and damp soil. Full-bodied in the mouth, it has impressive restraint for such a rich wine, delivering savory flavors and grainy tannins, finishing refreshing.

Mer moden frukt type soft, modne jordbær, fremtredende tobakk toner, myk elegant eik. Veldig klassisk.
