The 2022 Mauvesin Barton is composed of 55% Merlot, 36% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 9% Cabernet Franc, aging in 33% new oak barrels. Deep garnet-purple in color, it skips out with lively notions of fresh blackberries, black raspberries, and red currant jelly. The medium to full bodied palate delivers taut, muscular fruit with wonderfully firm, fine-grained tannins and lovely freshness throughout, finishing long and fruity. Seriously impressive!

Seriously deep colour, and plenty of perfume, heather, blackberry and crushed roses, this is really an impressive Mauvesin this is one that I think will surprise many people. More accessible than many because it keep freshness and juice running through it, but has the depth and concentration of the vintage. One to look out for. Eric Boissenot consultant, 33% new oak for ageing.

Første forsøk på 2022-årgangen. Tett og mørk lilla på farge. Dufter av mørke bær, lakris og krydder. Fint balansert med faste tanniner, frisk syre og lang avslutning. I tidligste laget, men vel verdt å sprette denne for å få et første hint om hva som bor i denne årgangen.

WSET 2

Medium to deep garnet-purple colored. Notes of crushed cranberries and fresh raspberries jump from the glass, plus hints of dried herbs and wet slate with a touch of damp soil. The light-bodied palate is racy and lightly chewy with delicate red berry flavors and an herbal finish.

Inky ruby colour, another vintage that underlines how impressively Mauvesin Barton has been doing over the past few years. Delivers brambled blackberry fruit and balanced but clear toasted spices, austere on the finish, this heads towards closing in, but keeps the fruit on the savory side, and you feel that the Barton family's experiece means they can clearly identify what claret lovers expect from Moulis and zeroed in on it. Harvest September 14 to 26, 33% new oak, 30hl/h yields. Tasted twice.

The 2019 Mauvesin Barton is medium to deep garnet-purple in color. It offers up scents of kirsch, raspberry leaves, and mulberries, with touches of tobacco and graphite. The medium-bodied palate has appealing energy with soft, well-managed tannins and plenty of freshness, finishing with a red berry lift.

Plenty of blueberry, redcurrant and raspberry fruit, supple with fresh tannins good structure. A classic take on the vintage, you can wait to drink but you don't need to. They produced no 2017 vintage at Mauvesin due to frost, and this is an enjoyable return that is worth looking out for. Consultant Eric Boissenot.

Rødlilla på farge. Dufter av modne blåbær, modne kirsebær, hint av skog, tobakk og lær. Fin og tight syre, middels pluss lengde. En meget god vin vs pris.

Lukt: paprika, pepper, vanilje, mørke bær(bjørnebær/solbærbusk+blåbær).

Smak: bærlig inngang sammen med noe jordaktig/lær. Fortsetter i midtpartiet. Ettersmaken er av tobakk, vanilje og paprika. Samt noe pepper. Varer en stund. God vin til prisen.

Smak: blåbær og paprikadrevet. Blir møtt en vegg med blåe bær som holder seg resten av vinen. Ettersmak av plomme, vanilje og blyantspiss. Merker syren, spiss. Lakris ,blåbær og paprika i avslutningen

A tough wine to put into this lineup, and it struggles to stand up against the leading wines of Bordeaux. No shame in that, particularly in a year like 2013, but I would suggest making the most of this soon, as the soft ruby rose colour, and the barely-there autumnal fruits are very much in their drinking window.

Mørk rød farge. Dufter av mørke skogsbær, mørk spice, våt skogbunn, sopp og lær. Ørlite hint av stall. Kjennes som om vinen er i prosess med å gå over i tertiær aromaer. God konsentrasjon og fin syre. Middels tighte tanniner. Gi denne vinen et par år så er den enda rundere i kantene. Mye vin for pengene.
