The 2023 Lespault-Martillac Blanc waltzes out with flamboyant notes of honeysuckle, fresh white peaches, and lemon curd plus hints of yuzu zest, lime leaves, and Marcona almonds. The medium-bodied palate is packed with stone fruit flavors, framed by a satiny texture and great tension, finishing long and fragrant. The blend is 70% Sauvignon Blanc and 30% Semillon.

Enjoyable and easy going, citrus, white flowers, salted cracker salinity with lime zest lift. A crowd pleasing white. Owned by Jean-Claude Bolleau but farmed and vinified entirely by the Bernard family of Domaine de Chevalier.

Inside Bordeaux

Apricot blossom, citrus, apricot, peach pit and sage, excellent job with a juicy signoff, classic flavours of a Pessac Blanc. Harvest 4 to 12 September. 33% new oak. Domaine de Chevalier team. Stopped organics in 2024 but are starting again for the 2025 vintage. 

This is low acidity but it works within the vintage, nectarine, apricot pit, juicy citrus, edges of mint leaf on the finish. Harvest August 21 to September 1. One to look out for, and should be a value pick. 25% new oak for ageing.

Made from 70% Sauvignon Blanc and 30% Semillon, the 2020 Lespault-Martillac Blanc needs a little coaxing to bring out notes of green apples, lemon grass, and fresh pineapple, plus suggestions of dill seed and sea spray. The medium-bodied palate is graceful and minerally, with bold freshness and a long citrusy finish.
