Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2022 Meyre prances out with eager-to-please notes of juicy red and black plums, black cherry compote, and lavender, followed by wafts of dusty soil and tapenade. The medium to full-bodied palate is packed with juicy black fruits, supported by soft, rounded tannins and seamless freshness, finishing with compelling purity.

Inky depths to the colour, sweet brambled fruits, quite an imprint of cloves and smoked oak, but manages to hug rather than strangle the fruit, and this has charm along with vintage character. 30% new oak, Corinne Bonne owner, farmed organically since 2008, certified since 2011.

Inside Bordeaux

Bright ruby colour, cloves, redcurrant, cranberry, white tea, fresh acidity makes the finish abrupt. There is plenty of potential here and it should soften further over ageing. Certified organic estate.

Delicate floral character on the nose, but this is a little dilute through the mid palate (with two samples), and is for unfussy early to medium drinking. 30% new barrels for ageing, lightly toasted.

The 2021 Meyre is composed of 44% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Petit Verdot, and 5% Cabernet Franc. Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, it reveals notes of strawberry pie and baked cherries plus suggestions of dried herbs and tobacco. The light to medium-bodied palate is a tad thin and green, with chewy tannins and a tart finish.

Punch blackberry fruits on the opening, softens to undergrowth, almost wet leaf as it opens up. Unfussy, light, no need to wait too long.
