Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2023 Dame Gaffeliere opens with notes of redcurrants, black plums, and sauteed herbs leading to hints of pencil lead, tar, and damp soil. The medium-bodied palate is soft textured and lively, with pronounced herbal flavors, finishing a touch abruptly.

The 2020 Dame Gaffeliere, 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, is deep garnet-purple in color. It rolls up with ready-to-go notes of baked plums, stewed black cherries, and mulberries, plus hints of cardamom, cracked black pepper, and dusty soil. The medium-bodied palate is fresh and clean, with vibrant black fruits and a chewy finish. This wine, known as Clos La Gaffeliere outside the USA, comes from 20 hectares of dedicated vines. It used to be the second wine of La Gaffeliere: there is still a little declassified fruit in here, but it comes mainly from a separate vineyard with a clay terroir.
