Bright and vivid black fruits on the nose, with soft and gourmet tannic architecture. Expect blackberry and black cherry fruits, a charge of grilled oak, good quality, approachable, no need to wait too long - these are ripe fruits with a flash of heat on the finish. 12ha of vines, harvest September 12 to 16, 40% new oak, Vignobles Bernard Moueix, with winemaker Claire Moueix. 

Inside Bordeaux

The 2022 Taillefer is deep garnet-purple in color. Bright notes of fresh plums, juicy blackberries, and kirsch waft from the glass followed by hints of lavender and black olives. The medium to full-bodied palate is soft and juicy, with compelling freshness and wonderfully pure black fruits on the finish.

Ruby red medium intensity colour, fruits very much of the blue and red end of the spectrum, carefully delivered but struggles to really deliver the Pomerol pleasure that it does in riper vintages. Heritiers Bernard Moueix. Grape blend given is as planted, not vintage.

The 2023 Taillefer is deep garnet-purple in color. Notes of baked plums and dried mulberries slowly emerge from the glass, followed by hints of damp soil, sauteed herbs, and chargrill. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers mouth-coating black fruit preserves, with plenty of freshness and an earthy finish. The blend is 88% Merlot and 12% Cabernet Franc.

In bottle this shows the same characteristics as En Primeur - good quality, softly spoken, raspberry, plum and redcurrant fruits, with tobacco and sage, well balanced, easy to approach, short on the finish. Enjoyable medium term drinking from 5th generation owner and winemaker Claire Moueix.

Fruit remains extremely knitted together after ageing, dominated by coffee and spice aromatics on the opening beats. A trace of heat on the finish but this is unfussy, has Pomerol personality, and will be enjoyable over the next five to 10 years - just ensure you give it a good carafe to open up the brambled side to the black fruits. 39hl/h yield, harvest September 20 to 29, 40% new oak. Run by Claire Moueix since 2013.
