The 2022 La Tour Carnet is a blend of 57% Merlot, 37% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot, and 1% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet-purple in color, it needs a little bit of swirling and convincing to reveal its core of baked plums, boysenberry preserves, and damp soil, leading to wafts of cedar chest, graphite, and wild fungi. The medium to full-bodied palate coats the mouth with black fruit preserves and chewy tannins, finishing on an earthy note.

Inky, intense, slate and crushed stone character, clear Left Bank quality, with liquorice, black chocolate, sleek texture. Enjoyable but a little struggling to break free of the vintage.

Inside Bordeaux

Well teased out dark berry fruits, careful construction, wash of cedar and campfire smoke, black tea and slate, a little leafy through the mid palate but a juicy finish. Harvest 24 September to 9 October. 35 hl/ha. 60% in oak of which 50% is new. They are reducing the percentage of first wine at La Tour Carnet, in reflection of how far and fast the vineyard footprint has grown with new acquisitions. 

La Tour Carnet 2023 is deep garnet-purple in color. It offers faint notes of prunes and baked blackberries, with underlying wafts of bay leaves, tobacco, and graphite. Medium-bodied, the palate is lean and tart, with chewy tannins and a slightly grubby finish.

A blend of 60% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot, and 1% Cabernet Franc, La Tour Carnet 2021 is medium to deep garnet-purple in color. It rolls out of the glass with notes of juicy plums ad boysenberries, followed by wafts of cracked black pepper and underbrush. The medium-bodied palate is refreshing and clean, with soft tannins and a lifted finish.

La Tour Carnet 2020 has a deep garnet-purple color. It opens with hints of cedar chest, pencil lead, and dried herbs, over a core of cassis and redcurrant jelly. Light to medium-bodied, the palate is soft and refreshing with an herb-laced finish.

La Tour Carnet 2019 has a medium to deep garnet-purple color. It opens with spicy notes of clove oil and cinnamon stick, leading to a core of redcurrant jelly and black raspberries, plus a hint of fallen leaves. Medium-bodied, the palate is bright and breezy with lively red berry flavors and soft, well-managed tannins, finishing perfumed. 

La Tour Carnet 2018 is deep garnet purple in color. It offers cedar and dried herbs, with subtle notes of redcurrant jelly and cassis, plus a touch of crushed rocks. Medium-bodied, the palate has chewy tannins and a lively backbone, with an herbal finish.
