Intense golden amber in colour, reflecting a small yield, this has the rich intensity of the appellation, succulent and opulent and yet bursting with powerful lime zest, orange peel, preserved lemons, white truffle, pineapple, mandarin peel and slate. Luscious with grip and lift, and a clear return to form after a challenging 2022 here. Now majority owned by the Lalique luxury goods company rather than its owner Silvio Denz, with the sale completed in October 2023 (the same group owns The Glenturret whisky).

Inside Bordeaux

The 2023 Lafaurie-Peyraguey has a medium straw-gold color. It sashays out with gregarious notes of lemon marmalade, honeycomb, and fresh pineapple, followed by hints of lemongrass, allspice, and candied ginger. The palate is rich and concentrated, with exhilarating tension to counter, finishing with epic length and a whole firework display of exotic fruit and spices. Talk about a tropical paradise!

The 2024 Lafaurie-Peyraguey has a medium straw-gold color. It bursts with bold notes of acacia honey, chamomile tea, and preserved orange peel with a touch of musk perfume. The palate is seductively unctuous with just enough freshness, finishing long and spicy.

The 2022  Lafaurie-Peyraguey is a blend of 94% Semillon, 5% Sauvignon Blanc, and 1% Muscadelle, with 145 g/L residual sugar. Medium straw in color, it charges out of the gate with gregarious notes of mango pudding, juicy pineapple, and honeycomb, followed by hints of candied ginger and orange blossoms. The palate is full, rich, and decadently spicy, with a lively backbone to balance and epic length.

Pale gold in colour, amber refelctions, with exotic fruits on the opening beats of apricot, pineapple and mango, fresh acidities that give a clean and juicy edge to the wine, and this finishes with knife edge clarity, but with plenty of power.

The 2020 Lafaurie-Peyraguey has a pale lemon-straw color. It emerges from the glass with a powerful perfume of lime blossoms, orange peel, fresh grapefruit, and shaved ginger, with nuances of jasmine and crushed rocks. The palate is bright and intense, with loads of minerally sparks accenting the citrus fruit layers, finishing with a real skip in its step.

The 2019 Lafaurie-Peyraguey has a pale lemon-straw color. It prances out with showy notes of baked pineapple, apricot compote, and juicy mangoes, giving way to hints of clover honey, marzipan, and lime leaves, with a hint of chalk. The palate is super-intense, with vibrant tropical fruit flavors and a racy line of freshness, finishing long and honey-laced.

The 2018 Lafaurie-Peyraguey is pale lemon-straw in color. It comes hurdling out of the glass with rambunctious notes of baked peaches, poached pears, and juicy melon, followed by wafts of beeswax, spice cake, and orange blossoms. The palate is rich, concentrated, and expressive, with just enough freshness and a decadently fruity finish.

The 2017 Lafaurie-Peyraguey has a pale lemon-straw color. Spicy notions of shaved ginger, coriander seed, and allspice jump from the glass, giving way to a core of lemon marmalade, honeydew melon, and white peaches, with a hint of crushed stones. The palate is intense and lively, with loads of citrus and mineral layers and a long, ginger-laced finish.

The 2016 Lafaurie-Peyraguey has a pale lemon-straw color. It rolls out with evocative tropical fruit notes of lychees, honeydew melon, and green guava, leading to hints of beeswax, rose oil, and lemongrass. The palate is decadently ripe, concentrated, and unctuous, with flamboyant tropical fruit layers and seamless freshness, finishing long and opulent.

The 2015 Lafaurie-Peyraguey has a pale lemon-straw color. It features wonderfully perfumed notes of lemongrass, coriander seed, lime blossoms, and preserved mandarin peel, leading to a core of juicy white peaches and green mango. The palate sings with energetic citrus and tropical fruit flavors, with a crisp, invigorating backbone and a long, wonderfully pure finish.

The 2014 Lafaurie-Peyraguey is pale to medium straw-gold in color. It soars from the glass with fragrant notes of chamomile, lemon verbena, and orange blossom, followed by touches of allspice, candied ginger, and lime leaves. The palate is racy and intense, with vibrant citrus and floral layers and a long invigorating finish. Impressive!

Pale to medium straw-gold in color, the 2013 Lafaurie-Peyraguey sashays out with notes of lemon tart, orange blossoms, and candied ginger, followed by hints of dried persimmons and fallen leaves, and with an undercurrent of acacia honey. The rich, unctuous palate is hedonically sweet with seamless freshness to support and a very long, opulent finish.

The 2012 Lafaurie-Peyraguey has a pale to medium gold color. It strides confidently out of the glass with ready-for-business scents of dried mango, apricot preserves, and pear tart, followed by wafts of chamomile, caramel, and light brown sugar, with a hint of praline. The palate is rich and concentrated, with vivacious stone fruit and caramel-inspired flavors and just enough freshness, finishing on a lingering, nutty note.

The 2011 Lafaurie-Peyraguey is pale to medium gold in color. The nose is a little broody and rubbery to begin, soon unfurling to offer up notes of candied orange peel, ginger cake, struck flint, and lime cordial, with hints of chalk dust and coriander seed in the background. The palate is elegantly crafted and soft-spoken, delivering citrus and mineral layers with impressive restraint, finishing long and saline.

The 2010 Lafaurie-Peyraguey has a pale straw-gold color. It needs some patient swirling to coax out youthful notes of orange blossoms, lemon curd, and grapefruit oil, giving way to more fragrant floral scents of jasmine tea and honeysuckle, plus touches of sea spray and elderflower. The palate is refreshing and vibrant, with youthful citrus and floral notes and a long, energetic finish.

The 2009 Lafaurie-Peyraguey is medium gold in color. It comes barreling out of the glass with powerful notes of crème brulée, quince paste, apricot preserves, and fresh ginger, followed by touches of saffron, lemon butter, and Marcona almonds. The palate is super-sweet, concentrated, and decadent, with plenty of refreshing acidity to counterbalance and an epically long, honey-nut finish.

The 2008 Lafaurie-Peyraguey has a pale to medium straw-gold color. It leaps from the glass with vibrant notes of apple jelly, orange blossoms, and key lime pie, leading to nuances of crème brulée, toasted almonds, and brine. The palate is vibrant and refreshing with loads of invigorating citrus zest and mineral sparks to lift the intense flavors, finishing zesty.

The 2007 Lafaurie-Peyraguey is medium gold-colored. It is a little shy and restrained to start, needing some coaxing to reveal notes of honey-coated walnuts, chamomile tea, and peach preserves, plus wafts of lime leaves, dried mandarin peel, and brown sugar. The palate is decadently rich, with just enough freshness to lift the opulent fruit to a long finish.

The 2006 Lafaurie-Peyraguey is pale to medium gold-colored. It needs a swirl or two before bursting with notes of pineapple upside-down cake, allspice, and candied ginger, leading to wafts of persimmon butter, crème caramel, and fresh hay. The palate is rich and vivacious, with unctuous fruit and a lively backbone to support it, finishing long and spicy.

The 2005 Lafaurie-Peyraguey has a pale to medium gold color. Wow - the nose absolutely pops with floral notes of jasmine and honeysuckle, leading to a core of mint tea, underbrush, and lemon pastilles, plus hints of lime leaves and chalk dust. The palate reveals fragrant/minty notes, with just enough freshness and a long, energetic finish.

The 2004 Lafaurie-Peyraguey is pale to medium gold-colored.  It skips out with bright, youthful notes of lemon curd, grapefruit oil, and pear drops, followed by suggestions of saffron, lemon verbena, and nutmeg. The palate delivers impressive richness and a racy backbone, with loads of nut and baking spice nuances on the long finish.

The 2003 Lafaurie-Peyraguey has a pale to medium gold color. It gives up expressive, ready-to-go scents of baked peaches, mango pudding, and jasmine tea, with touches of allspice and fallen leaves. The densely laden palate contributes honey-nut characters, with a refreshing backbone and a stewed tea note on the finish.

The 2002 Lafaurie-Peyraguey is pale to medium gold-amber in color. It flies out of the glass with open-knit scents of chamomile tea, lemon grass, and dried apricots, leading to suggestions of powdered ginger, tobacco, and preserved orange peel. The palate delivers mouthwatering acidity to offset the intense stone fruit preserve and spicy layers, finishing on a lingering, savory note.
