The 2023 Romer du Hayot is 100% Semillon and has 129 g/l of residual sugar and a pH of 3.72. It is pale lemon-straw in color and gallops out with notes of juicy mango, guava, and baked pineapple, followed by suggestions of nutmeg, Marcona almond, and baking bread. The palate is satiny smooth and vibrant with tropical fruit layers, supported by a racy backbone, finishing long and fruity.

Intense stone fruits on the nose, luscious texture balanced by salt-scrape minerality and lift, roasted fennel, pineapple, pink grapefuit, apricot, this is enjoyable, with personality.

Inside Bordeaux

The 2024 Romer du Hayot is 100% Semillon and has a pale lemon-straw color. It leaps with bold scents of key lime pie and fresh pineapple, plus nuances of jasmine tea and acacia honey. The palate is soft-spoken with just enough freshness and a savory finish.

I'm always a fan of 100% Sémillon made as a dry wine from Sauternes, and am happy to see the first vintage of this wine from the excellent Romer estate. It combines the weight and intensity of the grape variety with waves of white flowers, grilled savoury pear and gentle white pepper spice. A wash of oyster shell salinity on the finish gives a moreish edge.

A blend of 90% Semillon and 10% Sauvignon Blanc, with 98 g/l of residual sugar, the 2020 Romer du Hayot has a pale lemon-straw color. Notions of applesauce, poached pears, and wet slate waft from the glass, followed by hints of lemongrass and fresh hay. The palate delivers a lively backbone to the intense savory layers, finishing on an earthy note.
