The 2023 Bin A Reserve Chardonnay shimmies out of the glass with alluring notes of fresh yellow apples, white peaches, and grapefruit, leading to suggestions of shaved almonds and honeysuckle with a hint of brine. The light-bodied palate offers a satiny texture and great tension to offset the intense citrus and stone fruit flavors, finishing long and chalky. This wine was aged for 7 months in French oak barriques, 60% new.

The 2022 Penfolds Bin 22A Reserve Chardonnay was aged for eight months in French oak, of which 75% was new. It needs a fair bit of swirling to unlock notes of white peaches, candied ginger, and juicy pears, followed by touches of honeycomb and almond croissant. The light-bodied palate is tightly packed with stone fruit and spice layers, supported by amazing tension and a satiny texture, finishing very long and layered. It needs a good 2-3 years in bottle, but it is so tempting to drink now.
