A vineryard that should perform strongly in this kind of vintage, because located right next to the river for air conditioning, with a mix of gravel with clear clay sections to retain freshness, and it's definitely one to look out for. Layers of redcurrant, raspberry and blackcurrant fruits, juicy mouthwatering finish, peony, pencil lead, orange peel, 3.75ph. Certainly this is a great example of Meyney. Hubert de Boüard consultant. Inside Bordeaux

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2022 Meyney comes skipping out with delightful notes of wild blueberries, redcurrant jelly, and juicy plums, leading to hints of chocolate mint and lilacs. The medium to full-bodied palate is generously fruited, with a solid frame of grainy tannins to match, finishing with just enough freshness.

Deep garnet-purple colored. Gives up notes of under-ripe strawberries and raspberry leaves with hints of Provence herbs and wet slate. The light to medium-bodied palate is firm and rugged with a lively line and herbal finish.

Often a benchmark wine for me in a vintage, and it is a good sign for the Left Bank in 2023 that Meyney is tasting great. A punch of inky plum and blackberry fruit, good lift and freshness, plenty of tannic grip, an excellent wine. A buy. CA Grands Crus owners.

The 2021 Meyney is deep garnet-purple in color. Vibrant notes of strawberries and black cherries spill from the glass, leading to touches of lavender, bay leaves, and mossy tree bark. The light to medium-bodied palate is chewy and refreshing, with crunchy red fruit and a lifted finish.

The 2020 Meyney is deep garnet-purple in color. It rolls up with ready-for-business notes of crushed blackcurrants and plum preserves, plus hints of wild sage, damp soil, and charcoal. The medium-bodied palate is uncomplicated and refreshing with soft, approachable tannins and a mineral-laced finish.

Sommelier

Plommer, bjørnebær, tobakk, blyantkvess og noe jordlig på nese. Lettbeint og godt anslag. Fin og forførende frukt som akkompagneres av en ungdommelig friskhet i midtparti. Kroppen er stor og muskuløs, men samtidig grasiøs. Utgang med robuste tanniner - imponerende lengde! Dette er en veldig god St. Estephe som burde sove minimum 5 år til i kjelleren. Bra potensial, og dette må klassifiseres som et røverkjøp i Bordeaux.

WSET 2

Right next door to Montrose, this is another 2016 to look out for, and one that shows the brilliance of St Estèphe. Dark fruits abound, and the wine is full of natural power and exuberance, with fresh acidities. Still young, clearly a good 15 years ahead of it, but can be drunk now. Harvest September 23 to October 14, with an expanded team of 90 pickers in 2016 that allowed for more precision. Hubert de Boüard consultant.

The insider's St Estephe thanks to its location directly next to Château Montrose (although on fairly different terroir, with more clay in the gravel-dominant soils). One of the sleeper hits of the vintage, and it is just starting to open up at eight years old. Inky ruby in colour, still young in expression, keeping the focus on dark bitter chocolate, a little earthy, old school St Estèphe character, plenty of heart, firm and deep through the mid palate. Harvest October 1 to 21. Hubert de Boüard consultant.

Smak: inngang av blekk, tjære. Midtparti av mørke bær (blåbær), mye trøkk, mørke bær/vanilje i Finnish.
