Saint-Emilion Grand Cru

Soft purple-ruby colour, medium intensity, well measured with grilled vanilla bean and cedar aromatics, this shows careful progression through the palate, gentle red fruits, white pepper and cumin, the concentration builds slowly, in layers, but overall they have sensibly focused on a wine that doesn't need too long in the bottle before opening, think three or four years at most. 3.55 pH. 65 IPT. 75% new oak. 40 hl/ha. Harvest: 3 October. Tasted twice. 

Inside Bordeaux

Deep garnet-purple colored. A bit broody and reduced to start, opening out to notes of red and black plums and chargrill, with a waft of sautéed herbs. The light to medium-bodied palate is refreshing and lightly chewy with a savory finish.

Intense black chocolate, dried figs and black pepper spice, lifted by fragrant cumin and iris aromatics, showing personality and character, autumnal fruits, oak closes in on the finish. 70% new oak for ageing.

The 2022 Moulin du Cadet is 100% Merlot and has a pH of 3.37 and a very deep purple-black color. Notions of plum preserves, licorice, and juicy black cherries leap from the glass with hints of tar and licorice. Full-bodied, the palate is built like a brick house with firm, grainy tannins and plenty of freshness, finishing long and minerally.

Delicate structure and raspberry and redcurrant fruit that is carefully extracted. Plenty of gentle tobacco and crayon, with juicy limestone character. It has finesse, soft through the mid palate. Marie Lefévère owner of this 2.58ha estate on the limestone plateau.

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2020 Moulin du Cadet is redolent of juicy black cherries, mulberries, and boysenberry preserves with an earthy undercurrent and nuances of star anise and wood smoke. Full-bodied, the palate is jam-packed with black fruit preserves, lifted by a lively backbone, finishing long and plush.

Classic, signature St Emilion with textured, chalky tannins that have texture, if a little roughly hewn right now. The fruits major on blackberry and blueberry, alongside tobacco and cigar box. Things slow down on the finish, stretching through the palate to balance out the exuberance. Clear oak influence but enjoyable, good quality. Tasted twice
