Slim and muscular, juicy, white pepper spice, a little overly austere compared to the wonderful 2022, 2016 and 2010 vintage of this wine, but still a great quality glass that slowly but surely stretches out. and invites you to enjoy. 25% new oak, 3.52 pH, 31 hl/ha, 5.1% press wine. Harvest 30 September to 9 October, Mikaël Georges technical director, 31hl/ha yield. New cellars in operation (as of 2023, all gravity fed, and where 40 tanks now over 100 tanks of differing sizes). 

Inside Bordeaux

The 2023 Le Petit Lion du Marquis de Las Cases is deep garnet-purple in color. It features vivacious scents of redcurrant jelly, crushed blackcurrants, and kirsch leading to wafts of dried herbs and pencil shavings. The medium-bodied palate is racy and lively, with crunchy red and black fruits and a lightly chewy texture, finishing with an herbal lift. The blend is 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and 8% Cabernet Franc. The alcohol is 13.5%.

A blend of 55.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38.5% Merlot, and 6% Cabernet Franc, Le Petit Lion du Marquis de Las Cases 2022 was the only second wine made by the estate this year, as the Petite Marquise of Clos du Marquis was also declassified into this cuvee. It is deep garnet-purple in color and leaps from the glass with vibrant notes of dried cherries, raspberry coulis, and kirsch, plus hints of prunes, cinnamon toast, and dusty soil. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is so, so fruity with bags of red berry layers and a soft texture, finishing with a cheery lift.

This has good depth of colour, with spiced tomato leaf on the aroamtics. It's austere, with tannic grip and estate signature, cassis and blackberry autmnal fruits, and a kick of espresso. This is the last Petit Lion with only Leoville Las Cases grapes, as from 2022 it is to become 2nd wine across both LLC and Clos de Marquis. 40% new oak.

Dyp lilla på fargen. Mørke bær som solbær, litt blåbær, lett eik. Medium + på intensitet. Høy syre med flott intensitet av solbær, blåbær, toast. Medium pluss utgang med mye tørrstoff, men finkornede tanniner. Flott vin som kan drikkes nå med lufting, men som vil ha godt av noen år til i kjelleren.
