Delicious, just earthy enough to be unfussy and begging for food. Vivid ruby in colour, redcurrants, sloe, brambled berries, savoury dried herbs, with smoke evident as it opens, hugely enticing. In the summer temperatures are slightly above average in the area while at night the minimum average temperature is 2.5°C lower than in the other estate plots as this is set up at 330m altitude, on clay limestone soils. Harvest October 10 to 15. 18 clones + 18 estate massal selections (with mother vines from the 1930s), with each clone vinified separately then blended at the end of ageing, fermented and aged in 50% new oak for 18 months, 500 litre casks, than four months in concrete tanks before release.
