The 2024 Guiraud is pale lemon-straw in color. It races out with notes of ginger tea, orange blossoms, and baked pineapple, giving way to hints of preserved lemons and lime cordial. The palate is citrusy and rich with spicy notes and a long lively finish.

Dark burnt orange gold, spiralling white flower aromatics, this is great quality, thoroughly enjoyable, subtle spiced cumin and tumeric, sweetly succulent apricot and nectarine juice without being heavy. 12.6 hl/ha yield, Sandrine Garbay estate director.

Inside Bordeaux

Vivid gold in colour, laced with white peach juice, grilled pear, stone fruits, lime juice, opulent but with sculpted lift and zest, this extends outwards and upwards through the palate, capturing the pleasure of 2023 sweet wines in Bordeaux. Has spice and character, gorgeously expressive even now, and will age with ease. Sandrine Garbay, long time winemaker of Yquem, is director at this 128ha estate, that has been farmed organically since 2011. Harvest began on September 27 and continued through to October 13.

The 2022 Guiraud, 70% Semillon and 30% Sauvignon Blanc with 134 g/L residual sugar, is pale to medium straw in color. It tumbles from the glass with beautifully expressive scents of key lime pie, passion fruit, and fresh white peaches, followed by suggestions of candle wax, acacia honey, allspice, and saffron. The palate is concentrated and bold, with bombastic citrus and tropical fruit layers and plenty of freshness, finishing long with a spicy kick.

Classical and consistent in its delivery, this is a beautifully balanced Guiraud with white flowers, peach, apricot pits, stone fruits, lime zest. Lifted yet luscious. Sandrine Garbay, long-time cellar master at Yquem, joined Guiraud in early 2022 but this vintage was made under Luc Planty. The finish comes in with white pepper spice, fennel, white pear and passion fruit. 2020 is the 10th vintage to be certified as organic. A yield of 8.3hl/ha, fermented and aged in 90% new oak.

Pale lemon-straw in color, the 2019 Guiraud rolls out of the glass with ready-to-go notes of peach preserves, juicy pineapple, and lime blossoms, leading to hints of ginger ale and crushed rocks. The palate is lively and satiny, with layer upon layer of exotic fruit and a perfumed finish.

Frisk vin med god balanse. Samarbeidet strålende med Mon Oncle’s dessert (crêpes). På smak dukker det opp steinfrukt, heriblant særlig plomme og aprikos. Kanskje noe ingefær mot avslutningen som er svært lang med god varme. Honning.

Exceptional lift and grip here, truffles, pineapple, pink grapefruit, luscious and exuberant but balanced, great moment to drink, serve chilled. A superb vintage at the estate, plenty to savour here.

The 2014 Guiraud is pale straw-gold in color. It is a little shy to begin, with notes of wet pebbles, paraffin wax, and lemon verbena giving way to a core of apple pie and fresh straw. The palate is rich and savory with a long spicy finish.

Medium straw-gold in color, the 2013 Guiraud gives up very honeyed, nutty, savory aromas. It is rich and nutty on the palate, leading to a spicy finish with just enough freshness.

Medium straw-gold in color, the 2012 Guiraud features gorgeous orange marmalade, beeswax, and orange blossom scents with hints of ginger ale and allspice. The palate has loads of earthy layers, with a lively line and great length.
