Plum and damson fruits on the nose, high acidity, a little more pronounced than in sibling estates Puygueraud and La Prade, this has a touch of lime zest and lemongrass alongside the berry fruits - a reflection of more clay in the soils - but still a juicy signoff. Harvest 3 to 8 October. 30% new oak. Cabernet Franc from massale selection from St Emilion. This was in organic conversion, but they have stopped for the 2024 vintage.

Inside Bordeaux

Deep garnet-purple colored. Comes bounding out with exuberant notes of juicy red plums and fresh red cherries, followed by suggestions of rose bud tea and fallen leaves. The light-bodied palate is racy with a fine-grained texture and pure sour cherry flavors, finishing lifted.

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2023 Alcee comes bounding out with rambunctious notes of juicy blueberries, blackberry pie, and roses giving way to hints of menthol, chargrill, and a waft of orange peel. The medium  to full-bodied palate delivers electric tension and tightly wound black fruit layers with mineral accents and fine-grained tannins, finishing long and wonderfully pure. Love it!

The tannins here are very present from the first moment, you feel their power but they are tempered by a juicy, vertical feel through the palate, and a ton of concentrated black cherry and damson fruit. 25% new oak for ageing alongside larger 400l oak casks. Tasted twice, good quality and one to look out for. No Cabernet Franc in the blend this year becuse they are young vines and they suffered in the drought, with an overall yield of just 22hl/h yield. 3ha estate owned by Nicolas Thienpont since 2011, Nicolas and Cyrile Thienpont winemakers, Julien Lavenu consultant.

Good quality 3ha estate owned by Nicolas Thienpont since 2011, and this is delivering in the vintage, unfurling to show blueberry and raspberry fruits, woodsmoke and white pepper with a gentle grip and mouthwatering finish. Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2020 Alcee leaps with energetic scents of warm black cherries, mulberries, and black raspberries, plus suggestions of chocolate box, dried roses, and cardamom. The full-bodied palate is plush and juicy, delivering bags of fragrant black fruits, finishing long and perfumed.

The 2019 Alcee is a blend of 96% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc. Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, it bursts with notes of wild blueberries, boysenberries, and rose oil, plus suggestions of cardamom and tilled soil. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers fine-grained tannins and a refreshing line to support the bright, expressive black fruits, finishing with great length.

The 2018 Alcee has a deep garnet-purple color. It delivers notes of baked plums, stewed black cherries, and boysenberry preserves, with hints of pencil shavings and roses. Medium to full-bodied, it is firm and chewy in the mouth, with soft acidity and a long savory finish.
