A softer Monregard than we have been used to over the past few years. There is fruit here, and after a beat it slowly but surely begins to build in density, red plum, white pear, iris flowers, touches of salinity and liqourice root on the finish. 1ha of vines, 30% new oak, around 5% less than usual but with a slightly longer toast. Green work starting at the end of June, sandy-clay soils. Same team as Clos du Clocher.

Inside Bordeaux

Deep garnet-purple colored. Waltzes out with gorgeous scents of crushed blackberries and raspberry pie, followed by hints of red roses, lavender, and wild sage with a touch of black pepper. The light to medium-bodied palate is soft and lively with delicate red berry flavors and a peppery finish.

Monregard La Croix 2023 is 100% Merlot and was harvested on the 19th of September. It has a deep garnet-purple color and scents of plum preserves, juicy blueberries, and black raspberries jump from the glass, followed by hints of menthol, graphite, and lavender. The medium-bodied palate has firm, grainy tannins and a lively line supporting the vibrant black and red berry flavors, finishing with a peppery lift.

The Monregard La Croix 2022 is deep garnet-purple in color. It slowly emerges from the glass with fragrant notions of kirsch, mulberries, and underbrush, followed by wafts of tobacco leaf and potpourri. The medium to full-bodied palate is firm and chewy, with earthy and savory layers, finishing a tad rugged.

Juicy and powerful, with clear sweetness to the fruit, smoked caramel and gunsmoke reduction on the opening beats, fades a little quickly through the finish. 20hl/ha yield because of frost, so just a few thousand bottles will be produced in 2021. In official organic conversion for the first time in 2021, but has been working this way for some time.

Deep rich colour, from a block of sandy-clay soils at the bottom of the Clos du Clocher vineyard, with old Merlot vines of around 45-50 years. A flash of heat on the opening beats, but it is well balanced by the rich black fruits and fresher raspberry and redcurrant, along with cocoa bean and graphite. Low sulphur additions throughout winemaking and at bottling, native yeasts, organic conversion that began officially in 2021 but was already across the entire estate in 2020.

Grilled oak notes, this is bursting with rich damson, blueberry and blackberry fruits. Stretches out slowly in the palate, showing nudges of liquorice, fennel, bitter chocolate and olive paste, coming in waves but each one taking its time. Great definition and purity of expression, with tannins that are confident but tender. This is less exuberant than the 2018, but it's built to age, and is a total knockout. 100% new oak, some in 30hl oak casks. Harvest September 24th until October 11th. As of 2018 part of the Cabernet Franc has been aged in 30hl oak casks, with the rest in barrel, 100% new oak. Penultimate vintage for technical director Emmanuelle Fulchi.
