Burnished gold, not even fading to amber, visually this is astonishingly young. Hints of ageing in the coffee bean and truffle aromatics, with fresh mint, oyster, citrus and bitter mandarin peel on the palate. Shows grip and length and not even a trace of oxidation at nearly 60 years old. This was an outstanding vintage and this is an outstanding bottle. Sebastian Stocker winemaker.

Inside Bordeaux

At 70 years, we have the first trace of deposits in the entire lineup, rather incredibly. The gold is turning to amber, with traces of oxidation on the nose. There is a sweetness here, whipped citrus souffle, a touch of mushroom and soy with a saline lick, balancing delicacy and opulence, think vintage Champagne. Bouncy freshness keeps a lift through the palate, even as the undergrowth, wax and saffron reminds us that this is a fully mature wine. A piece of history in so many ways, as this is the first year at Terlano for Sebastien Stocker, family friend of André Tchilechieff.
