Impressive La Lagune, with depth and reach, manages to deliver intense tannic architecture, with Left Bank power and concentrated cassis and bilberry fruits, with fresher pomegranate, citrus zest, mandarin oil, tobacco, cigar box all adding complexity. Supple tannins also, and plenty of them, with bitter almond notes adding focus on the finish. Ageing potential here, and an impressive vintage for the property. Harvest September 9 to 26. Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2022 La Lagune is a little shy to start off, needing some coaxing to bring out evocative scents of creme de cassis, redcurrant jelly, and kirsch, followed by touches of tar and smoked meats. The medium to full-bodied palate is laden with rich, ripe, black fruits, supported by firm, grainy tannins and well-judged freshness, finishing long and earthy.

Deep garnet-purple colored. Needs a fair bit of swirling to reveal notes of fresh raspberries and mulberries, followed by hints of sautéed herbs, pencil shavings, and damp soil. The light to medium-bodied palate is chewy and refreshing with herb-laced berry flavors and a firm finish.

Concentrated spiced plum, billowing red and white roses fragrance, opening to a confident tannic architecture, and an expansive but controlled delivery of textured autumnal fruit. Rose stems and grippy tannnins suggest full ripeness was challenging, but this has character and depth, and lift through the palate. Caroline Frey owner, 30hl/ha yields.

Precision and fresh acidities mark the opening of this wine, there is plenty of blueberry and redcurrant fruit, fine tannins with edges of peony, aniseed, fennel and cumin that add depth. An appealing wine with finesse, holding the line within the vintage. 30hl/h yield. Tasted twice.

This is excellent, one of the best La Lagune in years, has the serious tannins of the vintage, underlaid by liqourice, cassis and juicy bilberry, tomato leaf and pomegranate. Fresh acidities, liqourice root and bitter fennel add bite and interest. Great stuff. Organic certified, in biodynamic conversion.

La Lagune 2019 is deep garnet-purple in color. Notes of warm cassis, blackberry preserves, and fruitcake waft from the glass, leading to hints of cloves, dried herbs, and pencil lead. The medium-bodied palate is firm and chewy, with just enough freshness and an herb-laced finish.

The 2014 La Lagune is medium to deep garnet-brick in color. Notes of fried herbs and baked plums lead to emerging suggestions of tobacco, cloves, and mince pie. The medium-bodied palate is chewy and a little thin, with a hard, rustic finish.

Medium to deep garnet colored, the 2012 La Lagune leaps with kirsch and cassis notes followed by hints of fallen leaves, pencil lead, and dried Provence herbs. Light to medium-bodied, with lively black fruits and a chewy texture, it finishes earthy if uncomplicated.

Luscious texture, this is significantly more impressive than the 2009 from the first moment. Here you get the broody, savoury quality that you look for in a 2010, with dark hedgerow fruits fruits, well balanced, cocoa bean, sage, capsicum, grilled sandalwood, confident tannic grip and an expansive mid-palate. 50% new oak for ageing.

Grilled oak on the nose, blackberry and cassis fruit in the mid palate shows a clearly ripe - heading to over-ripe - character with an attractive layering of cinnamon spice, fig and black pepper freshened up by botanicals and sage, but things get a little drying on the finish, with the tannins remaining fairly tight, and it's a disappointing signoff. 50% new oak for ageing.

WSET 2

Heading to tertiary in colour, gentle bricking around the edges, this is rich and complex on the nose, real depth of fruit, a ton of mint and eucalpytus, bitter chocolate and black pepper on the finish. Still plenty of structure at 17 years old, with the tannins now silky in texture. Definitely in its drinking window, but no need to rush, has a few more years of stretching out before it is fully at its peak. Has the energy that you find in the great wines of the vintage, and a ton of character. Impressive, one of the value 2005s to look out for.

Mursteinsrød og lys i kantene. Dufter av tomatstilk, jordbær, tobakk, jordkjeller og litt lakk. Smaker tørket frukt/bær, tobakk, fat, sopp, lær, kjeller og furunål. Grei syrlighet og litt tannin igjen. Denne er nok ferdig utviklet og skal drikkes nå!
