A blend of 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2021 de Lussac has a medium to deep garnet-purple color. Notes of redcurrant jelly and juicy plums spill from the glass, followed by hints of tar and dried herbs. The medium-bodied palate is refreshing and pure, with soft tannins and an earthy finish.

Smoky oak, red fruits, has personality and movement to the tannins, a little light through the mid palate. Owned by the Laviale family, Olivier Chenard director, Bruno Lacoste oenologist.

Inside Bordeaux

The 2020 de Lussac is medium to deep garnet-purple in color. It needs a bit of swirling to unlock notes of prunes, dried herbs, and sandalwood, followed by hints of clove oil and wild sage. The medium-bodied palate has plenty of plump, juicy fruit, supported by a lively backbone, finishing with a red berry lift.

Closed down right now, with tight black fruits and very little air between the tannins. As it softens gentle blackberry fruits come out, but this remains a little abrupt on the finish. Owned by Griet and Hervé Laviale since 2000.
