This is powerful and complex, fleshy damson and black cherry fruits, austere in all the right places, with amazing depth, better than many first wines in Pomerol and is an absolute buy. Jagged edges of crushed rocks, star-bright, luscious as it opens, unleashing waves of violet and peony. A shame just to taste this wine, hopefully you will be luckier and can enjoy a whole bottle. 50% new oak, harvest September 9 to 16. Noemie Durantou winemaker alongside Olivier Gautrat.

Inside Bordeaux

A blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, the 2020 La Petite Eglise is deep garnet-purple in color. It requires a lot of coaxing to unlock notions of baked plums, blackberry compote, and fruitcake, followed by hints of cardamom, black olives, and crushed rocks. The medium to full-bodied palate is densely laden with earth-laced black fruits, supported by firm, rugged tannins and just enough freshness, finishing long and earthy.

Deep garnet-purple colored. Sashay out with eager-to-please scents of kirsch, fresh mulberries, and red plums, followed by hints of rose bud tea and underbrush. The medium-bodied palate has fantastic freshness with impressive intensity and fine-grained tannins, finishing long and minerally. Nice!

A blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, La Petite Eglise 2023 has a deep garnet-purple color. It pops from the glass with scents of juicy black plums, fresh mulberries, and Morello cherries, leading to fragrant suggestions of violets and charcoal, with a touch of black truffles. The medium-bodied palate is light on its feet, with bright berry layers and a firm, fine-grained texture, finishing earthy.

This is an impressive Petite Eglise, has a sweet subtle spicing, lovely black pepper and great juice. Slate, black chocolate, espresso, mandarin peel, so many layers, delicious. 34hl/h yields. Harvest August 31 (earliest ever) to September 9, 60% new oak. Noemie Durantou winemaker.

A blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, La Petite Eglise 2021 is deep garnet-purple in color. It is a little closed to start, soon unfurling to offer glimpses at kirsch, fresh plums, and boysenberries, further opening out to accents of aniseed and wild sage. The medium-bodied palate is elegantly crafted, with a fine-grained texture and lively acidity supporting the red berry and earthy flavors, finishing on a mineral note.

The 2019 La Petite Eglise is a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet-purple in color, it rolls out with expressive notes of crushed rocks, wild sage, and pencil shavings, followed by fruity suggestions of raspberry coulis and blackberry pie. The medium to full-bodied palate is taut and muscular, with grainy tannins and an earthy finish.

La Petite Eglise 2018 has a deep garnet purple color. It offers notes of mocha, dried herbs, and tar, giving way to a core of prunes and baked blackberries, with touches of charcuterie and tilled soil. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is a little hollow and chewy, with tart acidity and an earthy finish.
